Refined quadratic estimations of Shafer’s inequality

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications, 2017
We establish an inequality by quadratic estimations; the double inequality π 2 x 4 + ( π 2 − 4 ) 2 + ( 2 π x ) 2 < arctan x < π 2 x 4 + 32 + ( 2 π x ) 2 $$ \frac{\pi^{2} x}{4 +\sqrt{(\pi^{2} -4)^{2} + (2\pi x)^{2}}} < \arctan{x} < \frac{\pi^{2} x}{4 ...

dayside Pi 2 pulsations at low latitudes

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 1989
In this paper we investigate the occurrence of dayside Pi 2 geomagnetic pulsations at low and mid latitudes. The technique of data adaptive filtering is used to identify Pi 2's concealed by the presence of typical daytime Pc type pulsations. Convincing new evidence is presented demonstrating that Pi 2 pulsations occur simultaneously in both the ...

Estimate of the magnetic field strength in heavy-ion collisions

open access: yes, 2009
Magnetic fields created in the noncentral heavy-ion collision are studied within a microscopic transport model, namely the Ultrarelativistic Quantum Molecular Dynamics model (UrQMD). Simulations were carried out for different impact parameters within the

Feasibility and Preliminary Efficacy of Integrative Neuromuscular Training for Childhood Cancer Survivors: A Pilot Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Survivors of childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) often exhibit early deficits in muscle and movement competence, which can compromise long‐term health. Integrative neuromuscular training (INT), a multifaceted approach combining fundamental movement activities with strength exercises, may help address these deficits during ...

A theory of \pi/2 superconducting Josephson junctions

open access: yes, 1999
We consider theoretically a Josephson junction with a superconducting critical current density which has a random sign along the junction's surface. We show that the ground state of the junction corresponds to the phase difference equal to \pi/2.

The Role of Invasive Procedures in the Treatment of Complicated Gastrointestinal Graft‐Versus‐Host Disease in Pediatric Patients

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Gastrointestinal graft‐versus‐host disease (GI GVHD) following hematopoietic stem cell transplant is typically managed with medical therapy, but surgery and angioembolization may be warranted in selected cases with life‐threatening complications.

Hard rods: statistics of parking configurations

open access: yes, 2002
We compute the correlation function in the equilibrium version of R\'enyi's {\sl parking problem}. The correlation length is found to diverge as $2^{-1}\pi^{-2}(1-\rho)^{-2}$ when $\rho\nearrow1$ (maximum density) and as $\pi^{-2}(2\rho-1)^{-2}$ when ...

Blinatumomab Utilization in Pediatric B‐Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia: Experience From the Mountain West

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Blinatumomab is a bispecific T‐cell engager approved for the treatment of pediatric B‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B‐ALL). Outpatient home infusion reduces hospitalization burden and optimizes resource utilization, but is logistically challenging.

Trajectories of semigroups of holomorphic functions and harmonic measure

open access: yes, 2019
We give an explicit relation between the slope of the trajectory of a semigroup of holomorphic functions and the harmonic measure of the associated planar domain ${\varOmega}$. We use this to construct a semigroup whose slope is an arbitrary interval in $

Venous Thromboembolism in Pediatric Bone Sarcoma Patients: A 10‐Year, Single‐Institution Experience Encompassing the COVID‐19 Pandemic

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Osteosarcoma (OS) and Ewing sarcoma (EWS) are the most common primary bone cancers in children, but acute thrombosis is poorly characterized in this population. Our study evaluated the rates of venous thromboembolism (VTE) and associated risk factors in pediatric patients with bone sarcomas treated over a 10‐year period encompassing
