Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

A Berezin-type map and a class of weighted composition operators

open access: yesConcrete Operators, 2017
In this paper we consider the map L defined on the Bergman space La2(𝔺+)$L_a^2({{\rm\mathbb{C}}_{\rm{ + }}})$ of the right half plane ℂ+ by (Lf)(w)=πM′(w)∫𝔺+(fM′)(s)|bw(s)|2dA˜(s)$(Lf)(w) = \pi M'(w)\int\limits_{{{\rm\mathbb{C}}_{\rm{ + }}}} {\left( {{f \

Higher Readmissions at Safety-Net Hospitals and Potential Policy Solutions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The Hospital Readmissions Reduction Program (HRRP), established by the Affordable Care Act, ties a hospital's payments to its readmission rates -- with penalties for hospitals that exceed a national benchmark -- to encourage hospitals to reduce avoidable

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

DEVELOPMENT OF SYSTEMS OF MULTIPLEX PCR TO IDENTIFY GENES OF RESISTANCE TO MAGNAPORTHE GRISEA (HERBERT) BARR. AND SELECTION OF NEW RESISTANT FORMS (DONORS) ORYZA SATIVA L. TO PATHOGEN

open access: yesЗерновое хозяйство России, 2018
Imperfect fungus Magnaporthe grisea is a phyto pathogen with a vast influence on most crops including rice. Economic damage of the disease is enormous in all rice cultivation zones of the world.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...
