Metabolic engineering of Pichia pastoris
Besides its use for efficient production of recombinant proteins the methylotrophic yeast Pichia pastoris (syn. Komagataella spp.) has been increasingly employed as a platform to produce metabolites of varying origin. We summarize here the impressive methodological developments of the last years to model and analyze the metabolism of P.

ABSTRACT After an initial evolution in a reducing environment, life got successively challenged by reactive oxygen species (ROS), especially during the great oxidation event (GOE) that followed the development of photosynthesis. Therefore, ROS are deeply intertwined into the physiological, morphological and transcriptional responses of most present‐day

Exploring the Controllability of Microbial Metabolism on the Flavor of Chinese Baijiu
Regulation of flavor compounds by core functional microorganisms. ABSTRACT The flavor and quality of Baijiu are closely related to the environment and microbial metabolism. The microbial community structure is highly dynamic in time and space, making it trouble to control the flavor and quality of Baijiu. Therefore, this paper reviewed the role of core

Xylose metabolism in the fungus Rhizopus oryzae : effect of growth and respiration on l (+)-lactic acid production [PDF]
The fungus Rhizopus oryzae converts both glucose and xylose under aerobic conditions into chirally pure l(+)-lactic acid with by-products such as xylitol, glycerol, ethanol, carbon dioxide and fungal biomass.

A COMPARATIVE STUDY ON PICHIA DISPORA AND PICHIA SAITOI
A comparative study on Pichia dispora and Pichia saitoi was made and the results from this investigation seem to confirm them to be a different taxon. The two species differed in the mode of ascus formation, number of ascospores, nature of the ascus, and in the guanine-cytosine content in DNA but not in other biochemical characteristics.

This study investigated the effects of incubation time and temperature, and initial patulin concentration on patulin removal rates, and the mechanism involved in patulin degradation by Rhodosporidiobolus ruineniae and Meyerozyma guilliermondii. The patulin degradation rate by the yeast strains was dependent on the three key parameters.

ABSTRACT Expansins loosen plant cell wall networks through disrupting non‐covalent bonds between cellulose microfibrils and matrix polysaccharides. Whereas expansins were first discovered in plants, expansin‐related proteins have since been identified in bacteria and fungi.
