Dynamic Feeding for Pichia pastoris
2022The knowledge of certain strain-specific parameters of recombinant Pichia pastoris strains is required to be able to set up a feeding regime for fed-batch cultivations. These parameters are commonly determined either by time-consuming and labor-intensive continuous cultivations or by several, consecutive fed-batch cultivations. Here, we describe a fast

A new yeast species Pichia norvegensis Leask et Yarrow is described as the perfect state of Candida norvegensis (Dietrichson) van Uden et Farinha ex van Uden et Buckley. Strains of this species were isolated on 3 occasions from human vaginas. This species differs from other Pichia species that assimilate glucose but not galactose, sucrose, maltose ...

Optimising Pichia pastoris Induction
2012A common method for inducing the production of recombinant proteins in Pichia pastoris is through the use of methanol. However, the by-products of methanol metabolism are toxic to yeast cells and therefore its addition to recombinant cultures must be controlled and monitored throughout the process in order to maximise recombinant protein yields ...

Pichia anomala in grain biopreservation
Antonie van Leeuwenhoek, 2010Cereal grain is a major component of food and feed in large parts of the world. The microbial flora on cereal grains may interfere with hygiene and storage stability, palatability and bioavailability of minerals and proteins may depend on the composition of the microbial population.

Chromosomal differentiation of the sibling species Pichia membranifaciens and Pichia manshurica
Microbiology, 2009The molecular karyotyping analysis of 21 strains within the taxonomic complex Pichia membranifaciens allowed the sibling species P. membranifaciens and P. manshurica, as well as P. deserticola and P. punctispora, to be differentiated. Heterogeneity of the species P. membranifaciens at the variety level is discussed.

Glycosylation in Pichia pastoris
Biotechnology and Applied Biochemistry, 1999The Pichia pastoris system for expression of heterologous recombinant proteins is being used increasingly because of the large yields of properly folded proteins that result and the ease of scaling preparations into large-biomass fermentors. Another advantage of this system centres on the type of glycosylation that results, generally yielding protein ...
