The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Proposal of a New Metaheuristic for the Picker's Route Designation in Warehouse Management [PDF]

open access: yesOperations Research and Decisions
The order picking is the most time- and work-consuming component of total warehouse operations. As travelling takes up the most of the order picking time, reduction of the picker's route length can help decreasing it.

Order batching and picking in a synchronized zone order picking system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Order picking has been considered as one of the most critical operations in warehouse. In this study, we propose an analytical approximation model based on probability and queueing network theory to analyze order batching and picking area zoning on the ...

Mechanisms of IgE‐mediated food allergy and the role of allergen‐specific B cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Food allergy arises when allergen‐specific B cells preferentially produce immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies against harmless foods. This article explains the mechanisms driving IgE‐mediated reactions, highlights the central role of these B cells, and discusses how natural tolerance (NT) and oral immunotherapy (OIT) can reshape allergic immune responses.

Drone-Assisted Order Picking Problem: Adaptive Genetic Algorithm

open access: yesSystems
This study tries to make some improvements in the order picking operations by offering a novel mathematical model and efficient solution algorithm. Accordingly, the order picking policies are examined to allow for picking more orders by reducing the ...

Alternative line delivery strategies support a forklift free transition in a high product variety environment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Forklift transport fails when it comes to efficiency. As a result, more and more attention is going to alternative transport systems that automate or further structure the material flow; such as line deliveries by train and conveyor technology.
