THE CRYSTAL STRUCTURE OF PICOLINIC ACID
Chemistry Letters, 1973Abstract The crystal structure of picolinic acid was determined by a three-dimensional X-ray analysis. The molecules are linked by two symmetric double minimum hydrogen bonds with a small potential barrier, N–H–N and O–H–O,and form a zig-zag chain.

Microbial oxidation of kynurenic, xanthurenic and picolinic acids
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta, 1963Abstract 1. 1. Resulta of a study of the degradation of kynurenic acid by an Aerococcus are in agreement with a reaction sequence proposed for Pseudomonas by other workers. This sequence includes Compounds I and II below. 2. 2. Partial inhibition of oxidation of kynurenic acid by cell suspensions caused an accumulation of pyruvate with ...

Picolinic Acid in Acrodermatitis Enteropathica
Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition, 1984SummaryThree children with acrodermatitis enteropathica (AE) were treated with oral zinc dipicolinate (zinc‐PA). The daily dose of zinc required to prevent exacerbations, when administered as the dipicolinate complex, was one‐third the minimum amount of zinc required as the sulfate salt. The concentration of picolinic acid in the plasma of asymptomatic

A Picolinic Acid Derivative: A Plant Growth Regulator
Science, 19634-Amino-3,5,6-trichloropicolinic acid is more toxic to many broad-leaved plants than 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid and 2,4,5-trichlorophenoxyacetic acid. It is comparable in absorption by foliage, in translocation, and in soil-leaching characteristics; in soil, however, it retains its activity for a longer time.

New Derivatives of Picolinic Acid and Nicotinic Acid with Anticonvulsant Activity
Protein & Peptide Letters, 2005Previously obtained Pic-BZA is a potent anticonvulsant with low neurotoxicity, but its half-time of action is only about 15 min. In search for equally effective anticonvulsants but with a longer time of action fourteen Pic-BZA analogs were obtained.

Investigation of Picolinic Acid Extraction by Trioctylamine
International Journal of Chemical Reactor Engineering, 2011Picolinic acid is a pyridine compound with a carboxyl side chain at the 2-position. It is an isomer of nicotinic acid, which has the carboxyl side chain at the 3-position. Picolinic acid acts as a chelating agent of elements such as chromium, zinc, manganese, copper, iron, and molybdenum in the human body.

Reductions of picolinic acid and dipicolinic acid at mercury cathodes
Journal of Electroanalytical Chemistry and Interfacial Electrochemistry, 1975Summary Picolinic acid and dipicolinic acid have been successfully reduced to the corresponding alcohols by controlled potential electrolysis at mercury cathodes in slightly acidic aqueous buffer solutions.

Influence of picolinic acid on seizure susceptibility in mice
Pharmacological Reports, 2017The mechanism of drug resistance in epilepsy remains unknown. Picolinic acid (PIC) is an endogenous metabolite of the kynurenine pathway and a chelating agent added to dietary supplements. Both inhibitory and excitatory properties of PIC were reported.

6-Phosphoryl Picolinic Acids as Europium and Terbium Sensitizers
Inorganic Chemistry, 2011Three 6-phosphoryl picolinic acid (6PPA) derivatives were synthesized and used as europium and terbium sensitizers. Two of the three ligands (6-diethoxyphosphoryl picolinic acid (Hdeppa) and 6-monoethoxyphosphoryl picolinic acid (H(2)meppa)) are water-soluble, once complexed to lanthanide ions, while the third (6-dihydroxyphosphoryl picolinic acid (H(3)

Octadentate Picolinic Acid‐Based Bispidine Ligand for Radiometal Ions
Chemistry – A European Journal, 2017AbstractThe synthesis of the octadentate bispidine ligand bearing two picolinic acid pendant arms (H2bispa2), and its coordination chemistry with radionuclides relevant for nuclear medicine, namely indium(III) (111In), lutetium(III) (177Lu), and lanthanum(III) (as surrogate for 225Ac), are reported.
