Picolinic acid as a matrix for laser mass spectrometry of nucleic acids and proteins

Rapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry, 1994
AbstractWe found that picolinic acid is a very good matrix for matrix‐assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) time‐of‐flight mass spectrometry of oligonucleotides, proteins and tRNA. Among the oligonucleotides, picolinic acid was shown to be effective for homo‐oligonucleotides, d(G)40 and d(C)60, and for mixed‐base oligonucleotides up to 190 bases.

Metal-Free Decarboxylative Alkoxylation of 2-Picolinic Acid and Its Derivatives with Cyclic Ethers: One Step Construction of C-O and C-Cl Bonds.

Organic Letters, 2018
A new strategy for the metal-free decarboxylative alkoxylation of 2-picolinic acid and its derivatives is described. The three-component reaction of 2-picolinic acid or its derivatives, cyclic ethers, and tBuOCl proceeded smoothly in the presence of a ...

Macrophage Activating Properties of The Tryptophan Catabolite Picolinic Acid

2003
Recent studies have suggested a role for aminoacid catabolites as important regulators of macrophage (Mphi) activities. We reported previously that picolinic acid (PA), a tryptophan catabolite produced under inflammatory conditions and a costimulus with IFNgamma of Mphi effector functions, is a selective inducer of the Mphi inflammatory protein-1alpha (

Influence of Dietary Picolinic Acid on Mineral Metabolism in the Rat

Annals of Nutrition and Metabolism, 1988
Male rats were fed isonitrogenous, isocaloric diets containing different amounts of dietary zinc and picolinic acid (PA) (25, 60, 120 ppm Zn, 0, 20, 40, 60 mmol PA/kg diet) and balance collections of urine and faeces made over a 4-day period. Rats fed 25 ppm Zn were in negative Zn and Cu balance during the experiment.

Zinc Absorption in Cattle with a Dietary Picolinic Acid Supplement

The Journal of Nutrition, 1981
The effect of picolinic acid and hydroxyquinolines in intestinal zinc absorption of cattle was studied. In contrast to reports of the absorption in rat and in man, picolinic acid did not enhance zinc absorption in cattle. In two calves suffering from Adema disease, the bovine parallel to Acrodermatitis enteropathica, hydroxyquinoline supplementation ...
