Counterintuitive Fluorescence Blue Shift in Symmetry Breaking Dicationic Bis(indolium) with Two‐Photon Absorption Properties for NIR Living Cell Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Highly water‐soluble dicationic bis(indolium) dyes have been prepared, showing excellent two‐photon absorption and light emission. Their fluorescence behavior discloses an unusual increasing blue shift with increasing solvent polarity, which, in parallel, is beneficial for enhanced detection in biological media.

Generation of chirp-free picosecond pulses [PDF]

open access: yes, 1977
The frequency spectrum of moderately chirped laser pulses depends upon the portion of the beam which is accepted by the spectrometer. Observation of the development of the chirp in a mode-locked pulse train allows to determine the small incipient chirp ...

Review of Thin Lithium Metal Battery Anode Fabrication – Microstructure – Electrochemistry Relations

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Thin, lightweight lithium‐metal anodes are pivotal for practical high‐energy batteries. This review surveys processing routes that convert diverse Li precursors, e.g., ingots, melts, solutions, and vapor, into Li‐rich foils with controlled thickness, areal density, and tailored functionality.

Laser-Induced Periodic Surface Structures (LIPSS) on Polymers Processed with Picosecond Laser Pulses

open access: yesJournal of Laser Micro/Nanoengineering, 2018
Based on a literature review, it was concluded that Laser-induced Periodic Surface Structures (LIPSS) on polymers are produced when applying laser sources operating either in the ultraviolet wavelength and nanosecond pulse duration, or radiation of ...

Azaporphyrinoid‐Based Photo‐ and Electroactive Architectures for Advanced Functional Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A long‐standing collaboration between the Torres and Guldi groups has yielded diverse azaporphyrinoid‐based donor‐acceptor nanohybrids with promising applications in solar energy conversion. This conspectus highlights key molecular platforms and structure‐function relationships that govern light and charge management, supporting the rational design of ...

Picosecond Nd:YAG versus Fractional CO2 Lasers in Management of Postburn Scars

open access: yesPlastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Global Open
Background:. The picosecond laser was primarily designed to enhance tattoo removal. Because it has a new innovative mechanism for energy delivery, it has been modified to be used in other conditions such as skin resurfacing, which was usually treated ...

Generation and measurement of sub-picosecond electron bunch in photocathode rf gun

open access: yes, 2013
We consider a scheme to generate sub-picosecond electron bunch in the photocathode rf gun by improving the acceleration gradient in the gun, suitably tuning the bunch charge, the laser spot size and the acceleration phase, and reducing the growth of ...

Nonlinear Acoustics at GHz Frequencies in a Viscoelastic Fragile Glass Former [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Using a picosecond pump-probe ultrasonic technique, we study the propagation of high-amplitude, laser-generated longitudinal coherent acoustic pulses in the viscoelastic fragile glass former DC704. We observe an increase of almost ten percent in acoustic

Fabrication of ordered hierarchical structures on stainless steel by picosecond laser for modified wettability applications.

open access: yesOptics Express, 2018
Ordered hierarchical structures were fabricated on a stainless steel surface using a single picosecond laser for highly controllable dimensions. Picosecond laser induced periodic structures were firstly used to create large-scale nano-structures with a ...
