A survey of explosive traces in public places

open access: yesJournal of Forensic Sciences, Volume 70, Issue 4, Page 1450-1459, July 2025.
Abstract Interpretation and evaluation of trace explosives evidence requires practitioner understanding of factors including transfer, persistence, and environmental prevalence. This study builds on previous work and studies the contemporary prevalence of organic high explosives and inorganic ions of explosives significance in public places.

Chemical Evaluation and Nutritional Benefits of Dietary Additives Formulated From Fruit Peel Blends

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 6, June 2025.
Fruit peels, often discarded in food consumption and processing, contribute to substantial nutrient loss and food waste. This study formulated and evaluated different fruit peel blends and assessed their micronutrient composition, phytochemical content, and antioxidant activity.

Albuminuria and Mental Illness Risk: Results From National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2005–2018 and Mendelian Randomization Analyses

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 15, Issue 5, May 2025.
Albuminuria is significantly associated with an increased risk of depression and certain mental illnesses, including schizophrenia and persistent delusional disorder, as shown by NHANES data and Mendelian randomization analysis. ABSTRACT Background Recent evidence suggests a link between albuminuria and mental illness. However, whether this association

V‐PRO Blood Collection Tubes: Validation for Clinical Chemistry and Immunoassay Tests

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, Volume 39, Issue 6, March 2025.
ABSTRACT Background In accredited laboratories, each component of diagnostic products—such as laboratory instruments, reagents, and blood collection tubes must be validated before integration into routine patient testing. BD Vacutainers are commonly used in clinical laboratories compared to other blood collection tubes, while V‐PRO tubes have recently ...

Effect of Semen Collection in the Metabolite and Hormonal Content of Rabbit Seminal Plasma

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 11, Issue 2, March 2025.
New Zealand White adult rabbit bucks blood serum (BS) and seminal plasma (SP) share a plethora of compounds that might present an individual and/or temporal concentration variation (12‐week study). Our results showed variations of some metabolites (albumin, citrate, fructose, glucose, lactate and total protein) that appear to be potential biomarkers ...

Ferrocenyl β‐Diketonate Compounds: Extended Ring Systems for Improved Anticancer Activity

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 26, Issue 3, February 1, 2025.
Ferrocenyl based molecules with extended ring systems are shown to have improved cytotoxicity towards breast cancers, following the trend anthracenyl>naphthyl>phenyl>methyl. Whilst they don't induce significant morphological cell changes, varying degrees of reactive oxygen species are observed.

Efficient Cleavage of pUC19 DNA by Tetraaminonaphthols

open access: yesChemistryOpen, Volume 14, Issue 2, February 2025.
Anion receptor 4 was shown previously to cleave phosphodiesters by nucleophilic substitution. It also nicks plasmid DNA to some extent. We have now replaced the guanidines by ethylene diamine side chains. By this modification, the resulting tetraamine 13 becomes an effective DNA cleaver (R=H).
