Assessment of Changes in Birefringence and Orientation of Collagen Fibres in Different Grades of Oral Submucous Fibrosis and Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma using Picrosirius Red and Polarising Microscopy [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, 2022
Introduction: Oral Submucous Fibrosis (OSMF) is a potentially malignant disease with a prevalence of 7-13%. It is characterised by the fibroelastic changes due to excessive deposition of collagen which results in dense fibrous bands and epithelial ...

Image analyses of collagen types and thickness in oral sub mucous fibrosis stained with picrosirius red under polarizing microscope

open access: yesJournal of Orofacial Sciences, 2013
Context: Oral submucous fibrosis (OSF) is a potentially malignant oral disorder leading to increased fibrosis in the sub-epithelial layer. The collagen in the condition has been a subject of intense scrutiny in an attempt to understand the pathogenesis ...

Analysis of collagen fibers in keratocystic odontogenic tumor and ameloblastoma: A polarizing microscopic study

open access: yesIndian Journal of Dental Research, 2019
Introduction: Collagen forms an integral part of connective tissue and maintains its structural integrity. It has natural birefringence which is attributed to the arrangement of its fibers and is enhanced by special stains such as picrosirius red through

Human acellular amniotic membrane scaffolds encapsulating juvenile cartilage fragments accelerate the repair of rabbit osteochondral defects

open access: yesBone & Joint Research, 2022
Aims: The purpose of this study was to explore a simple and effective method of preparing human acellular amniotic membrane (HAAM) scaffolds, and explore the effect of HAAM scaffolds with juvenile cartilage fragments (JCFs) on osteochondral defects ...

The polarization colors of picrosirius red-stained collagen in systemic sclerosis.

open access: yesNishi Nihon Hifuka, 1991

Fibrosis quantification using multiphoton excitation imaging of picrosirius red stained cardiac tissue

open access: yes, 2023
Abstract Traditional methodologies for fibrosis quantification involve histological measurements, staining with Masson’s trichrome and picrosirius red (PSR), and label-free imaging using second harmonic generation (SHG). The difficulty of label-free cardiac SHG imaging is that both collagen (i.e., collagen 1 fibrils) and myosin are ...

G3BP1 Succinylation at K413 is Critical for Cardiac Function by Modulating PI3K‐AKT‐mTOR Signal Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Schematic illustrating the impact of G3BP1 succinylation at K413 on cardiac function. In the healthy human heart, G3BP1 succinylation maintains homeostatic mTOR signaling. In patients with dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) and heart failure (HF), G3BP1 de‐succinylation induces RagA expression and disrupts the binding of the TSC1/2 complex, leading to the ...

Preventive effect of Moringa oleifera seed oil (MOSEIL) in mice (Mus musculus) liver fibrosis model [PDF]

open access: yesBIO Web of Conferences
Persistent liver injury leads to liver fibrosis, a pathological condition distinguished by the excessive deposition of extracellular matrix components, especially collagen.
