Positive Neural Networks in Discrete Time Implement Monotone-Regular Behaviors

open access: yes, 2015
We study the expressive power of positive neural networks. The model uses positive connection weights and multiple input neurons. Different behaviors can be expressed by varying the connection weights.

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

Cognitive cost of switching between standard and dialect varieties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Switching between languages in picture naming incurs a cost associated with inhibition of the non-target language (Meuter & Allport, 1999).This cost is symmetrical in balanced bilinguals and asymmetrical in unbalanced bilinguals with higher cost ...

Stimulator of interferon genes agonist augmented antitumor immunity of osimertinib in Egfr‐mutated lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining osimertinib with the STING agonist ADU‐S100 activates innate and adaptive immunity to overcome the non‐inflamed microenvironment of Egfr‐mutant lung cancer. This combination increases NK and CD8+ T‐cell infiltration, associated with activation of the STING‐IRF3 pathway and local immunogenic cell death.

Vietnamese and the NP/DP parameter [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This paper investigates the place of Vietnamese in the NP/DP typology as formulated by Bošković (2005, 2008, 2009, 2010). We show that Bošković’s NP/DP parameter breaks down into at least three separate parameters.

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Painting and Language: A Pictoral Syntax of Shapes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1976
In previous articles, the author proposed that paintings can have syntactic rules. In this article he develops his proposal further and shows that shapes act as syntactic elements in the languages of painting styles.
