On multistability behavior of Unstable Dissipative Systems

open access: yes, 2018
We present a dissipative system with unstable dynamics called unstable dissipative system which are capable of generating a multi-stable behavior, i.e., depending on its initial condition the trajectory of the system converge to a specific basin of ...

From Polygons to Ultradiscrete Painlev\'e Equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The rays of tropical genus one curves are constrained in a way that defines a bounded polygon. When we relax this constraint, the resulting curves do not close, giving rise to a system of spiraling polygons.

Hierarchical Multi‐Material Architectures With Gradient Design for Dynamic‐Range Flexible Tactile Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Hierarchical multi‐material TPMS lattices are engineered as flexible tactile sensors by combining soft and stiff elastomeric layers with a conformal conductive coating. The bilayer architecture delivers sensitivity at low pressures while maintaining a broad detectable range under large loads, enabling reliable pressure and vibration monitoring for ...

Fundamental study on countermeasures against subharmonic vibration of order 1/2 in automatic transmissions for cars

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
In automatic transmissions for cars, a damper is installed in the lock-up clutch to absorb torsional vibrations caused by combustion in the engine. Although a damper with low stiffness reduces the torsional vibration, low-stiffness springs are difficult ...

Robust H∞ Feedback Compensator Design for Linear Parabolic DPSs with Pointwise/Piecewise Control and Pointwise/Piecewise Measurement

open access: yesComplexity, 2021
In this paper, a robust H∞ control problem of a class of linear parabolic distributed parameter systems (DPSs) with pointwise/piecewise control and pointwise/piecewise measurement has been investigated via the robust H∞ feedback compensator design ...

Continuum Mechanics Modeling of Flexible Spring Joints in Surgical Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A new mechanical model of a tendon‐actuated helical extension spring joint in surgical robots is built using Cosserat rod theory. The model can implicitly handle the unknown contacts between adjacent coils and numerically predict spring shapes from straight to significantly bent under actuation forces.

A State‐Adaptive Koopman Control Framework for Real‐Time Deformable Tool Manipulation in Robotic Environmental Swabbing

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This work presents a state‐adaptive Koopman linear quadratic regulator framework for real‐time manipulation of a deformable swab tool in robotic environmental sampling. By combining Koopman linearization, tactile sensing, and centroid‐based force regulation, the system maintains stable contact forces and high coverage across flat and inclined surfaces.

Counting the Lyapunov inflections in piecewise linear systems* [PDF]

open access: yesNonlinearity, 2021
Abstract Following the pioneering work of Iommi–Kiwi and Jenkinson–Pollicott–Vytnova, we continue to study the inflection points of the Lyapunov spectrum in this work. We prove that for any three-branch piecewise linear expanding map on an interval, the number of its Lyapunov inflections is bounded above by 2 ...
