Mechanical compliance and electrical enhancement are crucial for pressure sensors to promote performances when perceiving external stimuli. Here we propose a bioinspired multiscale heterogeneity-based interface to adaptively regulate its structure layout and switch to desirable piezoresistive behaviors with ultralow detection limitation.

Miniature piezoresistive sensor for detecting volatile organic components
Sensors and Actuators B: Chemical, 2021Abstract This paper reports a piezoresistive gas sensor, which detects the stress of polymer swollen due to sorption of trace gas molecules. The sensor consists of a Si-polymer composite and a Si cantilever with a piezoresistor at the support. The stress is transformed via the cantilever lateral deflection to the strain at the piezoresistor at the ...

Piezoresistive detection of acoustic waves
Review of Scientific Instruments, 2003A simple and cost-effective method for detecting propagation of acoustic waves based on the harmonic oscillations of a piezoresistive microcantilever is presented. Monitoring the Fourier amplitude of the microcantilever’s fundamental frequency, the dependence of the detected amplitude upon the acoustic source location, is measured.

Piezoresistive Microcantilevers for Biomolecular Force Detection
2007 Spanish Conference on Electron Devices, 2007This paper reports the development of piezoresistive microcantilevers for the detection of biomolecules by the measurement of intermolecular binding forces. The detection of the small forces involved in molecular recognition (

Antibody-based protein detection using piezoresistive cantilever arrays
Nanotechnology, 2007A piezoresistive cantilever array platform with electrical read-out was applied for protein detection using GST (glutathione-S-transferase) and GST antibodies as a model system. Sensing was performed in the static deflection mode under constant flow conditions. The GST antibodies were directly immobilized on the cantilever gold surface by means of free

Remote infrared radiation detection using piezoresistive microcantilevers
Applied Physics Letters, 1996A novel micromechanical infrared (IR) radiation sensor has been developed using commercially available piezoresistive microcantilevers. Microcantilevers coated with a heat absorbing layer undergo bending due to the differential stress between the top layer (coating) and the substrate.

Silicon Microcantilevers with Piezoresistive and MSE Detection
2009 Spanish Conference on Electron Devices, 2009We have fabricated 340 nm thick U-shaped microcantilevers with electrical output to be used as sensors for biomolecular detection, which requires a force resolution better than 100 pN. Piezoresistors or MOS transistors have been used as integrated electromechanical transducers. The devices have been fabricated by N-type doping using As ion implantation
