Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Strength of reinforced concrete pile caps [PDF]

open access: yesStructures <html_ent glyph="@amp;" ascii="&"/> Buildings, 2003
Discrepancies exist in the provisions for the design of reinforced concrete pile caps with regard to shear, between the two UK codes for structural concrete design, namely BS 8110 and BS 5400. These discrepancies have arisen in the historical development of the codes, and the implication is that one code is unsafe or the other is over-conservative ...

Discovery and Targeted Proteomic Studies Reveal Striatal Markers Validated for Huntington's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Clinical trials for Huntington's disease (HD) enrolling persons before clinical motor diagnosis (CMD) lack validated biomarkers. This study aimed to conduct an unbiased discovery analysis and a targeted examination of proteomic biomarkers scrutinized by clinical validation. Methods Cerebrospinal fluid was obtained from PREDICT‐HD and

Seismic Interaction Characteristics of an Inclined Straight Alternating Pile Group-Soil in Liquefied Ground

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2019
In this paper, the pile-soil interaction of a low-rise pile cap foundation of an inclined straight alternating pile on two or three layers of a soil liquefaction site under seismic load is studied. By inputting the 0.5 g El Centro seismic wave in FLAC3D,

Functional and Structural Evidence of Neurofluid Circuit Aberrations in Huntington Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Disrupted neurofluid regulation may contribute to neurodegeneration in Huntington disease (HD). Because neurofluid pathways influence waste clearance, inflammation, and the distribution of central nervous system (CNS)–delivered therapeutics, understanding their dysfunction is increasingly important as targeted treatments emerge.

Integrated Analysis of Optimization and Settlement Characteristics in Hybrid Pile Systems for Reused Foundations

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Pile reuse is a common technique in bridge renovation projects. However, the interaction mechanisms between new and existing piles under a shared cap remain unclear, restricting the size setting and further optimization of new piles in existing pile ...

Trajectories of Physical Function in Canadian Children with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objectives We describe trajectories of physical function in children newly diagnosed with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) and identify trajectories with persisting functional impairments and associated baseline characteristics. Methods We included patients enrolled in the Canadian Alliance of Pediatric Rheumatology Investigators (CAPRI) Registry ...
