Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

I-PINE web server: an integrative probabilistic NMR assignment system for proteins

open access: yesJournal of Biomolecular NMR, 2019
Various methods for understanding the structural and dynamic properties of proteins rely on the analysis of their NMR chemical shifts. These methods require the initial assignment of NMR signals to particular atoms in the sequence of the protein, a step ...

Biomass Native Structure Into Functional Carbon‐Based Catalysts for Fenton‐Like Reactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study indicates that eight biomasses with 2D flaky and 1D acicular structures influence surface O types, morphology, defects, N doping, sp2 C, and Co nanoparticles loading in three series of carbon, N‐doped carbon, and cobalt/graphitic carbon. This work identifies how these structural factors impact catalytic pathways, enhancing selective electron

Mechanisms driving variability in the ocean forcing of Pine Island Glacier

open access: yesNature Communications, 2017
Pine Island Glacier (PIG) terminates in a rapidly melting ice shelf, and ocean circulation and temperature are implicated in the retreat and growing contribution to sea level rise of PIG and nearby glaciers.

Enzyme‐Loaded Fe3+‐Modified Polydopamine Microparticles: Bioreactor Systems for Operating Biocatalytic Cascades, Enantioselective Transformations and Sensor Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Enzyme‐loaded Fe3+‐modified polydopamine microparticles (Fe3+‐PD) act as hybrid biocatalytic frameworks demonstrating NADH peroxidase‐mimic catalytic activities, operation of biocatalytic cascades in confined media, and enantioselective oxidation of D/L‐DOPA. ABSTRACT We report on the synthesis of Fe3+‐modified porous polydopamine microparticles acting

A Fully Defined GelMA‐Based Matrix Allows Fine Tuning of Tissue‐Relevant Biomechanical and Biochemical Cues for Organoid Culture

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A fully defined GelMA‐based ECM platform integrates tunable tissue‐relevant stiffness with laminin–entactin biochemical supplementation to support mouse small intestinal organoid growth. Coordinated control of mechanical and biochemical cues promotes robust proliferation, budding morphogenesis, differentiation, and passaging, providing a reproducible ...

Probiotics and immunostimulants modulate gut microbiome and immune gene expression in post-larval Litopenaeus vannamei

open access: yesComparative Immunology Reports
Globally, shrimp production reaches approximately five million metric tons annually to satisfy growing demand. However, suboptimal culture conditions have rendered shrimp increasingly susceptible to diverse diseases, making disease prevention and immune ...

The Postharvest Education Foundation’s role in reducing postharvest losses

open access: yesJulius-Kühn-Archiv, 2018
The Postharvest Education Foundation (PEF) was founded to address postharvest losses through education and training. Postharvest expertisewas identified as a key weakness in many developing countries.
