Effects of Niche Marginality on Hotter‐Drought Tree Mortality in Angiosperms and Gymnosperms
ABSTRACT Aim Current observations of global tree mortality events associated with drought raise concerns about climate change risks to forests' dynamics and function. It is unclear which forests are more susceptible to pulses of mortality under further changing climates.

We report the first high‐quality chromosome‐level genome assembly for the aphid Uroleucon formosanum, a serious pest that infests lettuce in eastern Asia. A combination of comparative genomic analyses and RNA‐seq transcriptome profiling suggests that U. formosanum employs integrative mechanisms to cope with host plant‐derived sesquiterpene lactone (STL)

Camera‐traps and the city: Spatiotemporal adaptations of wildlife to urban environments
Urbanisation may deeply alter wildlife behaviour and predator–prey dynamics by driving spatiotemporal adaptations to human activity and environmental features. Year‐round camera‐trap surveys in Firenze, Central Italy, revealed increased nocturnality, strong predator–prey temporal overlap at night and biodiversity patterns shaped by artificial light ...

Carbon Emissions From Fires in Eastern Siberian Larch Forests
The present study provides new insights on combustion processes from Siberian larch forest fires. We estimated combustion from vegetation and organic soils at 41 burned plots and spatially extrapolated our plot‐level estimates to the areas of two large fire events.

Plant diversity is known to influence ecosystem functioning, but the strength and direction of this relationship vary considerably among studies, most of which have a short duration. In communities with long‐lived species, such as forests, traits of individual trees change from seedlings to maturity, and the environment in which trees grow also ...
