Development of Pipeline Inspection Robot for Detection of Pipeline Defects.

SSRN Electronic Journal
Pipelines are crucial for the transportation of fluids in various sectors, including oil and gas, water supply, and sewage systems. Regular inspection is essential for maintaining pipeline integrity and preventing catastrophic failures. Traditional inspection methods often involve manual labor, which can be unsafe and time-consuming.

A soft pipeline robot inspired by inchworm locomotion with layer-interference variable stiffness

Smart materials and structures (Print)
Pipeline robots made from rigid materials have limited adaptability, making it difficult for them to navigate flexibly in complex, small-diameter pipes.

Design and experimental research of a soft worm-like pipeline robot

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part C: Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science
Most of the current soft pipeline robots are capable of crawling and climbing motions but are relatively poor at steering motions and adapting to different pipe diameters.

A robotic laser pipeline profiler

Proceedings of the 20th IEEE Instrumentation Technology Conference (Cat. No.03CH37412), 2004
This paper describes a pipeline profiling robot which uses a laser to build a 3D model of the inside of a pipe. The robot travels down the pipe finding the profile in real time using a laser and a camera. The laser is used to draw a line around the edge of the pipe; this line is then extracted from acquired images using recursive Gaussian filtering ...

A robotic system for internal inspection of water pipelines

IEEE Robotics & Automation Magazine, 1999
This research has been motivated by the need for a reliable, robust, and cost-effective tool for internal pipe inspection with application to preventive and predictive maintenance. A new design for a visual inspection system for the interior of water pipelines with minimal service interruption is presented. The method proposed is especially designed to

Vectorization of robot dynamics on a pipelined vector processor

Proceedings. 1991 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 2002
A computational scheme for a pipelined vector processor for robot inverse dynamics is presented. Vectorization of the inverse dynamics computation is achieved while the dynamics formulation still remains within the general linear recursive framework, which is based on Newton-Euler equations and originally designed for scalar processing.

Review on reliability in pipeline robotic control systems

International Journal of Computer Applications in Technology, 2014
With the increasing use of the pipeline transport facilities, the safety and efficiency of the pipeline systems are very important to energy security. Almost all traditional pipeline inspection methods have shortcomings in one way or another, such as heavy workload and low accuracy.
