Steel Pipeline Appurtenances

Journal AWWA, 1949
MAJOR steel water supply lines require great care in their design to provide for ability to withstand pressures safely, to support long spans adequately and to insure long life. Equal care must be given to insuring satisfactory operation of the line by providing the proper accessories at the proper places and in the proper sizes.

Contralled Rolled Steels for Offshore Pipelines

Offshore Technology Conference, 1976
ABSTRACT Controlled rolled X60, X65 and X70 steels, originally developed to meet the stringent requirements of Arctic pipelining, have been used in offshore oil and gas pipelines. The technology and application of these acicular ferrite and pearlite reduced steels, which have been used successfully in several North ...

Impact Toughness of A Pipeline Steel

Canadian Metallurgical Quarterly, 1977
Abstract Impact fracture toughness of a pipeline steel was studied as a function of temperature and of the orientation of the crack with respect to the rolling direction. Toughness criteria, such as JId and KId, were determined. Precracked Charpy specimens were used in this investigation.

Underpinning a Section of Steel Pipeline

Journal AWWA, 1961
The Ramapo force main is a steel pipeline built to increase the yield of the Wanaque Reservoir, at Wanaque, New Jersey, by 25 mgd. This is accomplished by pumping water through the main from the Ramapo River at Pompton Lakes, New Jersey, to the reservoir. The main is approximately 5 mi long. Construction was started in 1951 and completed in 1953.

Solar power for cathodic protection of steel pipeline

Solar Energy, 1993
Abstract In this study, 4.5 km long fuel pipeline, located on 41° N latitude (Istanbul, Turkey) was cathodically protected with solar energy. Four commercial photovoltaic modules of a 12 V version were used. Insolation data were collected by the aid of Florya Meteorological Station.

Low Temperature Creep Behaviour of Pipeline Steels

Canadian Metallurgical Quarterly, 2009
AbstractRoom temperature creep behaviour of various grades of pipeline steels including X-52, X-70, X-80 and X-100 has been studied. Room temperature creep deformation was found to be strongly dependent on loading histories prior to creep loading. Pre-cold work generally increases the amount of room temperature creep deformation.

Proper Steel Pipeline Design

Journal AWWA, 1973
The Dept. of Water and Power of the City of Los Angeles is to be commended for its intensive investigation and exhaustive analyses of the failures that occurred in their second Los Angeles Aqueduct in Jan. 1970. Its desire to share the results of the investigation and analyses with the pipeline industry so that the results may be of benefit to all ...

Ductile Fracture Prediction of Steam Pipeline Steel

Materials Science Forum, 2006
Considering the conditions to which steels used for the manufacture of steam pipelines are exposed, the micromechanism of their destruction in exploitation is exclusively the ductile one. In order to make an estimation of the level of the damage that occurs in exploitation, in this paper a combined experimental and numerical procedure has been ...

Electrochemical Investigation of Hydrogen Diffusion in Pipeline Steels

CORROSION 2013, 2013
Abstract This paper deals with study on hydrogen diffusion and permeation in two pipeline steel materials. Some criticisms on the electrochemical hydrogen permeation technique were discussed in this article deals mainly with trapping effect on diffusion of hydrogen with steel.

Hydrogen Induced Cracking in Pipeline Steels

Corrosion, 1983
This paper describes the work conducted at the British Gas Engineering Research Station (ERS) using laboratory tests of the BP and NACE type to assess the hydrogen induced cracking (HIC) resistance of pipeline steels. Various grades of linepipe and fittings steels have been studied, and the metallurgical parameters controlling HIC resistance have been ...
