Antithrombotic and Flow Drag‐Reducing Material for Blood‐Contacting Medical Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, 2023
Blood‐contacting medical devices are often associated with shear‐induced and contact activation thrombosis. Superhydrophobic materials have shown promise to reduce flow drag forces, but not contact activation.

Simple Approach to Medical Grade Alumina and Zirconia Ceramics Surface Alteration via Acid Etching Treatment

open access: yesCrystals, 2021
In order for bioceramics to be further used in composites and their applications, it is important to change the surface so that the inert material is ready to interact with another material.

Halloysite Nanotubes as Bimodal Lewis/Brønsted Acid Heterogeneous Catalysts for the Synthesis of Heterocyclic Compounds

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2023
Halloysite nanotubes can be used for the preparation of solid catalysts. Owing to their natural availability at low-cost as well as to their large and easy-to-functionalize surface, they can be conveniently activated with mineral acids or derivatized ...

Novel Functionalized Boron Nitride Nanosheets Achieved by Radiation-Induced Oxygen Radicals and Their Enhancement for Polymer Nanocomposites

open access: yesMolecules, 2023
Boron nitride nanosheets (BNNSs) exfoliated from hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) show great potential in polymer-based composites due to their excellent mechanical properties, highly thermal conductivity, and insulation properties.

Cleaning Effect of Atmospheric-Plasma-Sprayed Y2O3 Coating Using Piranha Solution Based on Contamination Particle Measurement

open access: yesCoatings, 2023
A Y2O3 coating was prepared using the atmospheric plasma spraying (APS) technique. On exposing the coating to CF4/O2/Ar plasma, a fluorine contamination layer (YOxFy) was formed, which was the main cause of process drift and contamination particle generation on the APS–Y2O3 coating surface.

The Effect of Piranha and Silane Modifications on Boron Nitride Nanosheets (BNNSs) Thin Film Formation

open access: yesCumhuriyet Science Journal, 2019
In this study, the aim was to increase the adhesion between the twophases (glass substrate and BNNSs film). Surface treatment was provided by TEOSsilane group and piranha solution.

Optimization of Biomethane Yield of Xyris capensis Grass Using Oxidative Pretreatment

open access: yesEnergies, 2023
Biogas production from lignocellulose feedstocks has become an acceptable energy source globally due to their availability and economy. Lignocellulose materials have a complex arrangement that hinders digestion during the process. Therefore, applying the

Hydrophobic coating of mica by piranha solution activation, silanization grafting, and copolymerization with acrylate monomers

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, 2017
ABSTRACTHydrophobic mica particles were prepared by piranha solution activation, silanization, and copolymerization with acrylate monomers. Its surface morphology, hydrophilic properties, and thermogravimetric analysis changed differently in comparison with those of pristine mica.

A Study on the Synthesis and Proton Transport Behavior of Multilayered ZSM-5 Zeolite Nanosheet Membranes Laminated on Polymer Substrates

open access: yesMembranes, 2023
Single crystalline ZSM-5 ZNs with thicknesses around 6 nm were obtained by secondary growth of silicalite nanoparticles using diquaternary bis-1,5(tripropyl ammonium) pentamethylene diiodide (dC5) as a structure-directing agent (SDA).

Modification of the Surface Topography and Composition of Ultrafine and Coarse Grained Titanium by Chemical Etching

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2017
In this study, we present the detailed investigation of the influence of the etching medium (acidic or basic Piranha solutions) and the etching time on the morphology and surface relief of ultrafine grained (UFG) and coarse grained (CG) titanium.
