Recount pirarucu: a method for evaluating the quality of the pirarucu counts.

open access: yesScientific Magazine UAKARI, 2011
The pirarucu counting method is a simplified stock assessment that has been used as the main parameter for establishing the annual fishing quotas in the management system of the Mamirauá and Amanã Reserves. In spite of the method’s directness, considering the recent expansion of managed fisheries, we cannot confirm that the counters thoroughly obey the

Effect of enzymatic complex in the diet of pirarucu, Arapaima gigas juveniles [PDF]

open access: yesActa Amazonica, 2021
ABSTRACT The pirarucu, Arapaima gigas is a native, carnivorous fish species from the Amazon basin. As carnivorous fish have low amylase activity, exogenous enzymes can improve the digestibility of carbohydrates in aquaculture feeds. We evaluated the digestibility of increasing levels of an enzymatic complex in diets of pirarucu juveniles (65.2 ± 0.4 g).

Combined osmotic dehydration and drying process of pirarucu (Arapaima gigas) fillets. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Food Sci Technol, 2017
The osmotic dehydration (OD) and complementary drying of pirarucu (Arapaima gigas) fillets were studied. Pieces of the dorsal portion of pirarucu (60 mm × 20 mm × 10 mm) underwent OD in a binary solution (NaCl-water) with the application of vacuum pulse following a central rotatable composite design.
