ANTERIOR PITUITARY HORMONE IN URINE

Journal of the American Medical Association, 1931
Since the early reported work by Erdheim and Stumme1on the hypertrophy of the anterior hypophysis during pregnancy, subsequent studies have led to the discovery of an important and useful laboratory test for the early and accurate diagnosis of pregnancy.

Starch-gel Electrophoresis of Anterior Pituitary Hormones

Nature, 1961
SEPARATION of pituitary hormones by zone electrophoresis on paper has not proved very successful, possibly due to complex formation between proteins1. Starch-gel zone electrophoresis introduced by Smithies2,3 separates proteins not only by their net charge but also by their molecular size.

THE ANTERIOR PITUITARY-LIKE HORMONE

Journal of the American Medical Association, 1936
In a previous paper1a preliminary report concerning the effect of pregnancy urine extract2on acne vulgaris was made. This paper comprises a further study of that problem. A review of the literature brings to light several theories regarding the cause of acne but little clinical or experimental evidence in support of them.

Studies on several marsupial anterior pituitary hormones

General and Comparative Endocrinology, 1981
Abstract The anterior pituitary hormones LH, GH, and PRL were purified from several marsupial species, Eastern grey kangaroo ( Macropus giganteus ), Western grey kangaroo ( Macropus fuliginosus ), tammar wallaby ( Macropus eugenii ), and brush possum ( Trichosurus vulpecula ).

Anterior Pituitary Hormone Abnormalities following Traumatic Brain Injury

Journal of Neurotrauma, 2005
Traumatic brain injury (TBI) leads to approximately 100 hospitalizations per 100,000/year. Whereas diabetes insipidus is a well-known complication of TBI, anterior hypopituitarism as a consequence of TBI has been regarded as rare. More recent studies, however, suggest a prevalence of at least 30% of anterior pituitary dysfunction after TBI.

Isolated Deficiencies of Anterior Pituitary Hormones

JAMA, 1966
In the past ten years, as more refined techniques for evaluation of hormone secretion have evolved, a number of patients suffering from a deficiency of a single anterior pituitary hormone have been described. Although symptoms and physical findings of patients suffering from panhypopituitarism are contained in most textbooks of endocrinology, this is ...

Acetylcholine and Anterior Pituitary Hormone Secretion

1979
This chapter deals with the effects of acetylcholine (ACh) on anterior pituitary hormone secretion. The literature is reviewed. In general, previous investigations of the effects of cholinergic stimuli indicate stimulation of the hypothalamo-hypophyseal-adrenal and gonadal axes. Cholinergic stimulation seems to inhibit prolaction secretion.
