Hydrogen sulfide repairs testicular damage induced by heat stress in rats

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Heat stress can cause testicular damage and affect fertility. We investigated the potential protective role of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) against heat stress‐induced testicular injury and observed that H2S donor NaHS can effectively restore testicular damage in rats by inhibiting inflammation and oxidative stress. Our results suggest that H2S might be used

Evaluation of the expression of necroptosis pathway mediators and its association with tumor characteristics in functional and non-functional pituitary adenomas

open access: yesBMC Endocrine Disorders, 2022
Background Pituitary adenomas impose a burden of morbidity on patients and characterizing the molecular mechanisms underlying its pathogenesis received remarkable attention.

AIP and MEN1 mutations and AIP immunohistochemistry in pituitary adenomas in a tertiary referral center. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Background: Pituitary adenomas have a high disease burden due to tumor growth/ invasion and disordered hormonal secretion. Germline mutations in genes such as MEN1 and AIP are associated with early onset of aggressive pituitary adenomas that can be ...

Perceived stress in patients with inflammatory and non‐inflammatory skin conditions. An observational controlled study among 255 Norwegian dermatological outpatients

open access: yesSkin Health and Disease, Volume 2, Issue 4, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Background Inflammation may increase stress, while stress may promote inflammation. Most dermatological conditions are chronic and inflammatory, while some, such as cancer, naevi and tumours are non‐inflammatory, but may cause stress because of the fear of malignancy and the necessity for surgical and other invasive treatments.

QuickTumorNet: Fast Automatic Multi-Class Segmentation of Brain Tumors [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Non-invasive techniques such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are widely employed in brain tumor diagnostics. However, manual segmentation of brain tumors from 3D MRI volumes is a time-consuming task that requires trained expert radiologists. Due to the subjectivity of manual segmentation, there is low inter-rater reliability which can result in ...

The role of stereotactic radiosurgery in the multimodal management of growth hormone–secreting pituitary adenomas [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Growth hormone (GH)–secreting pituitary adenomas represent a common source of GH excess in patients with acromegaly. Whereas surgical extirpation of the culprit lesion is considered first-line treatment, as many as 19% of patients develop recurrent ...

Metastatic Tumors to the Pituitary

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Ophthalmology, 1995
To illustrate how the ophthalmologist can distinguish a metastatic tumor to the pituitary from a pituitary adenoma through clinical, particularly ophthalmic, findings. We studied three patients with metastatic disease to the pituitary. One patient had a history of breast cancer without known metastatic disease, and two patients had no previous diagnosis

Murine Models and Human Cell Line Models to Study Altered Dynamics of Ovarian Follicles in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
The manuscript examines preclinical murine and human models to study polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), delving into the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying altered ovarian follicular dynamics. It explores the cellular interactions involved in normal and PCOS ovaries and outlines the current and novel strategies in the search for preclinical ...

Brain Tumor MRI Classification using a Novel Deep Residual and Regional CNN [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Brain tumor classification is crucial for clinical analysis and an effective treatment plan to cure patients. Deep learning models help radiologists to accurately and efficiently analyze tumors without manual intervention. However, brain tumor analysis is challenging because of its complex structure, texture, size, location, and appearance.

Residual Tumor Confers a 10-Fold Increased Risk of Regrowth in Clinically Nonfunctioning Pituitary Tumors. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
ObjectiveWe evaluated tumor recurrence and regrowth rates following endoscopic transnasal transsphenoidal (TNTS) surgical removal in a consecutive series of clinically nonfunctioning pituitary adenomas (CNFTs).DesignRetrospective chart review of clinical,
