PIXS

Proceedings of the 5th ACM workshop on HotPlanet, 2013
With the proliferation of the emerging Online Social Networks and other conventional communication services, there is an increasing need for a tool which can facilitate individual users to effectively socialize across multiple, heterogeneous platforms.

XRF induced by PIXE: Comparison with PIXE

Journal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry Letters, 1987
Two different modes of sample excitation have been used for elemental analysis of thin standard reference materials and of chemical standards with known composition. PIXE /2.5 MeV protons/ and XRF induced by PIXE, will be called XRF-PIXE /2.5 MeV protons on Mo primary target/. The same samples were alternatively exposed to protons and X-ray beams.

PIXE Simulation With Geant4

IEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science, 2009
Particle induced X-ray emission (PIXE) is an important physical effect that is not yet adequately modelled in Geant4. This paper provides a critical analysis of the problem domain associated with PIXE simulation; it evaluates the conceptual approach, design and implementations of PIXE modelling so far available in Geant4, and describes a set of ...

PIXE and PIXE-induced XRF for chemical specification

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 1999
Abstract Wavelength dispersive X-ray spectra with fine structures in the PIXE and PIXE-induced XRF spectra have been proved to be very much useful for chemical specification of condensed matters. The fine structures have been reproduced theoretically by introducing molecular orbital calculations, the shake-off and resonant orbital rearrangement (ROR)

μ-PIXE and X-PIXE for radiological forensics

SPIE Proceedings, 2005
Sandia is evaluating methods for identifying and quantifying trace signatures in field collection samples to support national deterrence policies. The first step in this process is to identify which combination of major, minor, and trace elements in a recovered collection sample provides the most reliable forensic information, and then to be able to ...

PIXE depth profiling

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 1989
PIXE measurements done with different proton energies provide results from which concentration depth profiles can be extracted. An aluminium sample with known concentration depth profile of zinc was analysed. The results presented show the usefulness of the method.

Physics beyond PIXE

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 2020
Abstract The paper reveals geometrical effects that govern the accuracy of PIXE measurements: distinction between thin and thick targets, misorientation of the sample, surface roughness and contribution of the invisible matrix. It shows an importance of the mean X-ray production distance and its application in differential measurements.

Multilayer pixe analysis

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 1987
Abstract Thick target PIXE analysis has been extended to cases where there is a superposition of layers of different compositions. A computer program was developed for calculating the Kα X-ray yield of up to three layers containing up to five different elements each, when bombarded by protons of arbitrary energy.
