PIXE and micro‐PIXE studies of exogenous element distributions in animal organs

X-Ray Spectrometry, 1991
Abstract A pilot study was undertaken with aluminium and strontium in order to determine the path taken when they enter an organism. Rabbits received an intramuscular injection of A1, and thin tissue cryo‐sections and pelletized and incinerated samples were investigated by the PIXE method.

PIXE analysis of byzantine ceramics

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 1994
Abstract PIXE analyses have been performed on byzantine and hellenistic ceramics excavated at Pergame (Turkey). As local production is attested, the study intends to propose a new referential among the few kiln sites which have been analyzed in the framework of economic and cultural exchanges in the byzantine world.

Applications of PIXE in the Life Sciences

Biological Trace Element Research, 1994
During the last decade, particle-induced X-ray emission spectrometry (PIXE) has been accepted by the analytical chemistry community as a standard method. Instead of routine bulk analysis of biomedical samples where several competing analytical techniques are available, the full strength of PIXE could be exploited in special applications where also ...

Pixe analysis of reproductive fluids

Biological Trace Element Research, 1987
An external 3.8-MeV proton beam was employed to induce X-rays in 100-mg pellets of human follicular fluids and in 4-8 mg pellets of spermatozoa. The elements Cl, K, Ca, Fe, Cu, Zn, and Br were quantitatively determined in follicular fluids, whereas the elements, S, Cl, K, Ca, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, and Zn were determined in the spermatozoa.

Flash Lightens Gray Pixe

2019 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP), 2019
In the real world, a scene is usually cast by multiple illuminants and herein we address the problem of spatial illumination estimation. Our solution is based on detecting gray pixels with the help of flash photography. We show that flash photography significantly improves the performance of gray pixel detection without illuminant prior, training data ...
