The place of gold in the cross-market dependencies

Studies in Nonlinear Dynamics & Econometrics, 2016
Abstract This paper investigates the inter-relationships between the gold price on the one hand, other precious metals (e.g. silver, palladium, platinum) and asset markets (e.g. stocks, bonds, crude oil) on the other hand. The econometric methodology relies on the Markov-switching BEKK model by Haas and Mittnik (2008) that captures ...

On Iterated Function Systems with place-dependent probabilities

Proceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 2014
The author studies a family of invariant measures of parameterized iterated function systems where the corresponding probabilities are place-dependent. The goal of the paper is to determine the Hausdorff dimension of place-dependent invariant measures and to give a sufficient condition for their absolute continuity w.r.t.\ the Lebesgue measure.

When a place is not a place: encoding of spatial information is dependent on reward type

Behaviour, 2010
AbstractThe adaptationist perspective investigates how an animal's cognition has been shaped by the informational properties of the environment. The information that is useful may vary from one context to another. In the current study we examine how manipulating the foraging context (the type of resource being foraged) could affect the way spatial ...

Basque affricates and the manner-place dependency

Lingua, 1992
Abstract In this paper an attempt is made to refine the representation of Basque affricates, taking into account recent research that has shown that the Manner features in these segments are best analysed as two independent unary features [stop] and [cont] (Hualde 1988, Lombardi 1990). All processes bearing on the structure of affricates discussed in

Task-Dependent Representations in Rat Hippocampal Place Neurons

Journal of Neurophysiology, 1997
Kobayashi, Tsuneyuki, Hisao Nishijo, Masaji Fukuda, Jan Bures, and Taketoshi Ono. Task-dependent representations in rat hippocampal place neurons. J. Neurophysiol. 78: 597–613, 1997. It is suggested that the hippocampal formation is essential to spatial representations by flexible encoding of diverse information during navigation, which includes not ...

Experience‐dependent modifications of hippocampal place cell firing

Hippocampus, 1991
AbstractUnderstanding the empirical rules that regulate alterations of hippocampal firing fields will enhance our understanding of hippocampal function. The current study sought to extend previous research in this area by examining the effect of substituting a new stimulus for a familiar stimulus in a familiar environment.

Mood as a mediator of place dependent memory.

Journal of Experimental Psychology: General, 1995
Converging evidence form 3 studies suggests that how well information transfers from one environment to another depends on how similar the environments feel rather than on how similar they look. Thus, even when target events are encoded and retrieved in the same physical setting, memory performance suffers if the attending affective states differ ...

Place conditioning with morphine and phencyclidine: Dose dependent effects

Life Sciences, 1985
In a place conditioning paradigm, rats were exposed to one of two distinctive environments following injection of drug or vehicle. Preference was measured under drug free conditions by allowing subjects free access to both settings and measuring where they spent more time.

Sensitization-dependent nicotine place preference in the adult zebrafish

Progress in Neuro-Psychopharmacology and Biological Psychiatry, 2019
Sensitization of motor activity is a behavioural test to evaluate the effects of psychostimulants. Conditioned place preference (CPP) is an associative learning procedure to examine the rewarding properties of drugs. We aimed to assess whether motor sensitization to drugs of abuse can make zebrafish more vulnerable to establishing drug-induced CPP.
