Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

The Impact of the Four-Dimensional Components of Place Attachment on Students' Place Satisfaction with the University (Case Study: Faculty of Engineering at Ayatollah Boroujerdi University) [PDF]

open access: yesتوسعه پایدار شهری
Despite the significance of place attachment for university students, due to its impacts on academic performance, emotional well-being, and interpersonal relationships, no research has yet been conducted on the relationship between the four components of

Nonhomogeneous Place-dependent Markov Chains, Unsynchronised AIMD, and Optimisation

open access: yesJournal of the ACM, 2019
A stochastic algorithm is presented for a class of optimisation problems that arise when a group of agents compete to share a single constrained resource in an optimal manner. The approach uses intermittent single-bit feedback, which indicates a constraint violation and does not require inter-agent communication.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

The meaning(s) of place: Identifying the structure of sense of place across a social–ecological landscape

open access: yesPeople and Nature, 2020
Sense of place holds promise to understand how people perceive and respond to social and ecological change; however, using this concept to explore vulnerability and adaptation first depends on identifying the multiple ways people define their ...

Large quantum nonlinear dynamic susceptibility of single-molecule magnets

open access: yes, 2004
The nonlinear dynamical response of Mn$_{12}$ single-molecule magnets is experimentally found to be very large, quite insensitive to the spin-lattice coupling constant, and displaying peaks reversed with respect to classical superparamagnets. It is shown

By dawn or dusk—how circadian timing rewrites bacterial infection outcomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The circadian clock shapes immune function, yet its influence on infection outcomes is only beginning to be understood. This review highlights how circadian timing alters host responses to the bacterial pathogens Salmonella enterica, Listeria monocytogenes, and Streptococcus pneumoniae revealing that the effectiveness of immune defense depends not only

The Roles of Glial Cell Line-Derived Neurotrophic Factor, Tumor Necrosis Factor-α, and an Inducer of These Factors in Drug Dependence

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2007
There are few efficacious medications for drug dependence at present. Recent evidence has suggested that various cytokines are involved in the effects of abused drugs, suggesting that these factors play a role in drug dependence.

Hematopoietic (stem) cells—The elixir of life?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The aging of HSCs (hematopoietic stem cells) and the blood system leads to the decline of other organs. Rejuvenating aged HSCs improves the function of the blood system, slowing the aging of the heart, kidney, brain, and liver, and the occurrence of age‐related diseases.
