Experimental Study on Deformation and Strength of Silt Under Plane Strain Unloading Conditions

open access: yesApplied Sciences
In geotechnical engineering, operations such as foundation pit excavation, slope cutting, and tunnel boring often involve lateral unloading under plane strain conditions.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Thermal strain analysis considering in-plane anisotropy for sputtered AlN on c- and a-plane sapphire under high-temperature annealing

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2021
High-temperature annealing of sputtered AlN (Sp-AlN) using a face-to-face configuration is a novel technique that has attracted considerable attention because it can reduce the threading dislocation density of Sp-AlN to 107 cm−2.

Quantitative strain-field measurement of 1:1 B-site cation ordered domains and antiphase boundaries in Pb(Sc1/2Ta1/2)O3 ceramics by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy

open access: yes, 2009
Quantitative strain measurements of the 1:1 B-site cation ordered domains, antiphase boundaries and dislocations in a highly ordered Pb(Sc1/2Ta1/2)O3 ceramic have been carried out by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy and geometric phase ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Applicable conditions and analytical corrections of plane strain assumption in the simulation of hydraulic fracturing

open access: yesPetroleum Exploration and Development, 2017
Plane stain assumption is widely used in the simulation of the distribution of stress and displacement around hydraulic fractures. According to the comparison of the solutions of elliptical fracture and plane stain fracture, the applicable conditions of ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Comparative analysis of different finite element models of the soil-buried arch bridge interaction [PDF]

open access: yesGrađevinski Materijali i Konstrukcije, 2019
Comparative analysis is made of different finite element models of a buried arch bridge which is constructed from precast concrete elements. Two static schemes of the bridge structure are considered - a static scheme of rigid connection between all ...
