A Prospective Study of Individuals at Risk of Multiple Sclerosis Informs the Design of Primary Prevention Studies

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective In multiple sclerosis, the optimal time for deploying a therapeutic intervention is before the central nervous system is damaged; given the success of trials treating the earliest stage of MS, the radiologically isolated syndrome, developing primary prevention strategies is an important next challenge.

Causality in Scalar-Einstein Waves

open access: yesAxioms, 2023
A wavelike scalar-Einstein solution is found and indicating vectors constructed from the Bel-Robinson tensor are used to study which objects co-move with the wave and whether gravitational energy transfer is null.

Developmental and Epileptic Encephalopathy due to Biallelic Pathogenic Variants in PIGM

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective PIGM encodes a critical enzyme in the glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)‐anchor biosynthesis pathway. While promoter‐region mutations in PIGM have been associated with a relatively mild phenotype characterized by portal vein thrombosis and absence seizures, recent evidence suggests that coding‐region mutations result in a more severe

Special wave finite and infinite elements for the solution of the Helmholtz equation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The theory and the formulation of the special wave finite elements are discussed, and the special integration schemes for the elements are developed.

Cylindrical-wave diffraction by a rational wedge

open access: yes, 1986
In this paper, new expressions for the field produced by the diffraction of a cylindrical wave by a wedge, whose angle can be expressed as a rational multiple of π are given.

Measuring wave dynamics in IC engine intake systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Wave dynamics in the intake system are known to strongly influence the performance of naturally aspirated internal combustion (I.C.) engines. Detailed measurements of the wave dynamics are required to: optimise the performance of an engine, to validate ...

Generalized plane gravitational waves of non-symmetric unified field theories in plane symmetry

open access: yesAtti della Accademia Peloritana dei Pericolanti : Classe di Scienze Fisiche, Matematiche e Naturali, 2012
In this paper we investigated the plane wave solutions of both the weak and strong non-symmetric unified field equations of Einstein and Bonner in a generalized plane symmetric space-time in the sense of Taub [Ann. Math.

Epilepsy‐Associated Variants of a Single SCN1A Codon Exhibit Divergent Functional Properties

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Pathogenic variants in SCN1A, which encodes the voltage‐gated sodium channel NaV1.1, are associated with multiple epilepsy syndromes exhibiting a range of clinical severity. SCN1A variants are reported in different syndromes, including Dravet syndrome, which is associated with loss‐of‐function, whereas neonatal/infantile‐onset ...

Is the Phase of Plane Waves an Invariant? [PDF]

open access: yesZeitschrift für Naturforschung A, 2010
Based on the invariance of the phase of waves, plane waves were shown to propagate with negative frequencies in a medium which moves at ’superluminal’ speed opposite to the propagation direction of the plane waves. The validity of the invariance of the phase of plane waves was then called into question.
