Water Enrichment from Pebble Drift in Disks with Gap-forming Planets

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Volatiles like H _2 O are present as ice in solids in the cold outer regions of protoplanetary disks and as vapor in the warm inner regions within the water snow line.

Disc-planet, planet-planet, and star-planet interactions during planet formation

open access: yes, 2003
In this article we present results from three on-going projects related to the formation of protoplanets in protostellar discs. We present the results of simulations that model the interaction between embedded protoplanets and disc models undergoing MHD turbulence.

3D Printing of Highly Dense and Translucent Zirconia Parts for Dental Applications: Effect of Filament Overlapping

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This study formulated a 5Y‐PSZ zirconia paste for extrusion‐based additive manufacturing via direct ink writing, producing dense ceramic structures for dental applications. A colloidal approach with 47 vol% nanometric powder and tailored additives optimized rheology and printability.

The Influence of Mesoscale Particle Structure on the Electrode Degradation and Resultant Electrochemistry of Lithium Ion Cells With Nickel Rich Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide Positive Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Milled polycrystalline NMC811 cathode (MPC NMC) with smaller secondary particle and higher surface area had 1) greater cathode tortuosity, 2) reduced surface Ni on the cycled MPC cathodes consistent with surface reconstruction, and 3) increased Ni deposition from cathode‐anode crosstalk, manifesting in lower functional capacity and higher impedance ...

High Resolution ALMA Data of the Fomalhaut Debris Disk Confirms Apsidal Width Variation

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
We present long-baseline observations of the Fomalhaut outer debris disk at 223 GHz (1.3 mm) from Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) Cycle 5, which we use along with archival short-baseline observations to produce a 0 $\mathop{.}\limits{^

Molecular Inks for the Development of Complex 3D In‐Mold Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Molecular inks (MINKs) enable the fabrication of thermoformed 3D circuits by decoupling the forming and metallization steps. Following thermoforming, intense pulsed‑light or thermal processing converts the patterned MINKs into complex 3D conductive tracks with improved stretchability and electrical performance, advancing low‑cost, high‑performance in ...

exoALMA. XV. Interpreting the Height of CO Emission Layer

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
The availability of exquisite data and the development of new analysis techniques have enabled the study of emitting heights in protoplanetary disks. In this paper, we introduce a simple model linking the emitting height of CO to the disk surface density

Planet formation with envelope enrichment: new insights on planetary diversity

open access: yes, 2016
Aims. We compute for the first time self-consistent models of planet growth that include the effect of envelope enrichment. The change in envelope metallicity is assumed to be the result of planetesimal disruption or icy pebble sublimation. Methods.

High‐Power Rapid Laser‐Induced Synthesis of Multi‐functional Cobalt Metal‐Organic Framework With an Unprecedented Synthesis Efficiency

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Laser‐assisted synthesis enables rapid (within 1 h) and high‐yield (≥90%) production of Co‐MOFs with mesoporous structures, tunable magnetic and optical properties, and efficient adsorption of N2, CH4, and CO2 for low‐energy gas separation. DFT calculations elucidate the electronic structure and adsorption behavior.
