A dynamic model of a double-helical planetary gear set
Mechanism and Machine Theory, 2013Abstract A linear, time-invariant model of a double-helical planetary gear set is proposed in this paper. The model formulation allows the analysis of a gear set with any number of planets, any planet phasing and spacing configurations and any support conditions.

Gear meshing analysis of planetary gear sets with a floating sun gear
Mechanism and Machine Theory, 2015Abstract The goal of this study is to propose an analytical approach for analysis of gear meshing in a planetary gear set with a floating sun gear. With focus on the basic geometrical relation, we derive a set of equations based on the exact involute gear geometry for calculation of the tooth clearances among engaged unmodified or modified flanks of ...

Inherent characteristics analysis of compound planetary gear set
2018 15th International Conference on Ubiquitous Robots (UR), 2018A nonlinear dynamic model is established to investigate the inherent characteristics of compound planetary gear set. Further, the analytical method is proposed to evaluate the time-varying mesh stiffness (TVMS) of the system based on improved potential energy method.

Bifurcation and Chaos Analysis of Compound Planetary Gear Sets
2016 9th International Symposium on Computational Intelligence and Design (ISCID), 2016This paper proposes a new nonlinear time-varying transverse-torsional coupled model for a compound planetary gear sets. In this model, the motion dimensionless differential equations of the gear system are established based on Lagrange equation and the equations are solved, from which the result of the nonlinear dynamic response is obtained.

Influence of Gear Rim Deflections on Planetary Gear Set Behavior
Volume 6: ASME Power Transmission and Gearing Conference; 3rd International Conference on Micro- and Nanosystems; 11th International Conference on Advanced Vehicle and Tire Technologies, 2009In this study, results of an experimental and theoretical study on the influence of rim thickness of the ring gear on rim deflections and stresses, and planet load sharing of a planetary gear set are presented. Experimental study consists of measurement of ring gear deflections and strains for gear sets having various numbers of planets, different ring

Effects of the gear eccentricities on the dynamic performance of a planetary gear set
Nonlinear Dynamics, 2017Gear eccentricities are one of the practical types of the manufacturing errors that affect the dynamic performance of a planetary gear train (PGT). Previous research about the effects of the gear eccentricities is abundant, and many of them focus on the parallel shaft gear set.

Load sharing analysis of compound planetary gear set with cracked sun gear
2019 IEEE International Conference on Prognostics and Health Management (ICPHM), 2019The load sharing analysis of planetary transmissions has significant influence on the operation and reliability of the gear system. In order to reveal the impact of crack propagation on the load sharing behaviors, a nonlinear lumped-parameter model of the compound planetary gear set with cracked sun gear is established.

Computer-Aided Calculation of Planetary Gear Sets
SAE Technical Paper Series, 2003<div class="htmlview paragraph">The paper presents computer-aided calculation of planetary gear systems in automotive transmissions. We distinguish between two approaches to make the calculations: the direct problem and the inverse problem. The direct problem starts with a given nested gear set, calculated by means of the matrix method.
