Modulation Sidebands of Planetary Gear Set

2013
In this paper a torsional model of planetary gear set test bench is developed. This bench is composed by two identical planetary gears connected by a common shaft. A tri axial accelerometer is mounted in both rings. The mechanism leading to modulation sidebands is modelled. Time histories are characterized by a periodic fluctuation.

Response Sensitivity in a Nonlinear Planetary Gear Set

Volume 10: 2019 International Power Transmission and Gearing Conference, 2019
Abstract Due to the wide range of speeds of the vehicle engine, the resonance cannot be completely avoided. Aiming at this problem, the analysis of the dynamic characteristics of the vehicle transmission system is transferred from the analysis of the intrinsic characteristics to the analysis of the dynamic response, and the sensitivity ...

An Experimental Investigation of the Efficiency of Planetary Gear Sets

Volume 8: 11th International Power Transmission and Gearing Conference; 13th International Conference on Advanced Vehicle and Tire Technologies, 2011
In this paper, results from an experimental study on power losses of planetary gear sets are presented. The experimental set-up includes a specialized test apparatus to operate a planetary gear set under tightly-controlled speed, load and oil temperature conditions, and instrumentation for an accurate measurement of power losses.

Pinion Assembly Strategies for Planetary Gear Sets

Journal of Mechanical Design, 2013
Previous works illustrate that the orientation of pinion run-out errors has strong effect on the load sharing behavior of floating planetary gear sets. To minimize the inequality of load sharing, an in-phase rule for assembling pinions is recommended by other researchers, while a theoretical proof is still lacking.

A dynamic load distribution model of planetary gear sets

Mechanism and Machine Theory, 2021
Abstract This study presents, a three-dimensional dynamic load distribution model of planetary gear sets, which can capture the influence of several component and system level design variations. A numerical integration scheme is used in conjunction with an iterative elastic contact algorithm to solve the multibody dynamics problem.

Influence of Ring Gear Rim Thickness on Planetary Gear Set Behavior

Journal of Mechanical Design, 2010
In this study, results of an experimental and theoretical study on the influence of rim thickness of the ring gear on rim deflections and stresses and planet load sharing of a planetary gear set are presented. The experimental study consists of measurement of ring gear deflections and strains for gear sets having various numbers of planets, different ...

Dynamic simulation of planetary gear set with flexible spur ring gear

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 2013
Abstract Ring gear is a key element for vibration transmission and noise radiation in the planetary gear system which has been widely employed in different areas, such as wind turbine transmissions. Its flexibility has a great influence on the mesh stiffness of internal gear pair and the dynamic response of the planetary gear system, especially for ...

Load Sharing Behavior in Planetary Gear Set

2015
The objective of this paper is to study the effects of meshing phase between planets, the effects of the gravity of carrier and the planet position error on the load sharing behavior in planetary gear set. These effects will be studied numerically under the stationary condition and will be validated experimentally by a back-to-back planetary gear test ...
