Graphical aid for planetary gear train design

Mechanism and Machine Theory, 1989
Abstract A graphical overlay method is presented which can be used in the design of simple planetary gear trains when it is desired to establish gear sizes to produce given speed ratios. The technique can be used to establish both specific gear sizes and ratios as well as permissible size and ratio ranges.

Simplified kinematic analysis of planetary gear trains

Mechanism and Machine Theory, 1972
Abstract A method is described for the kinematic analysis of planetary gear trains, and it is shown that the method is particularly suitable for the analysis of gear trains with more than two degrees of freedom, such as those which are used in many automatic transmissions.

Two-Speed Two-Carrier Planetary Gear Trains

2015
The following paper reviews all of the possible cases of coupled two-carrier planetary gears with four external shafts. An emphasis is made on the work of these gears with one degree of freedom, one input and one output shaft and brakes on the other two shafts. When switching over the gears, the speed ratio of the gear is changed, thus allowing the use
