Evolution of planetary systems in resonance [PDF]

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics, 2004
We study the time evolution of two protoplanets still embedded in a protoplanetary disk. The results of two different numerical approaches are presented and compared. In the first approach, the motion of the disk material is computed with viscous hydrodynamical simulations, and the planetary motion is determined by N-body calculations including exactly

Development of a Novel Processing Route for Dispersoid/Precipitation‐Strengthened High Conductive Copper Alloys by Using Metalized Nanoceramics in Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores a process chain to produce dispersoid‐strengthened CuCr1Zr for applications requiring high strength and conductivity. Using gas‐atomized powder and copper‐plated alumina nanoparticles, additive manufacturing is performed via powder bed based additive manufacturing with green and red lasers, followed by heat treatment.

Dusty Planetary Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Extensive photometric stellar surveys show that many main sequence stars show emission at infrared and longer wavelengths that is in excess of the stellar photosphere; this emission is thought to arise from circumstellar dust. The presence of dust disks is confirmed by spatially resolved imaging at infrared to millimeter wavelengths (tracing the dust ...

Influence of Specific Ball‐Milling Energy on Mechanical and Corrosion Properties of Zn–0.2 Graphene Nanoplatelet Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, the effect of specific ball‐milling energy (SBME) on the mechanical and corrosion properties of graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) Zn matrix composites is presented. GNPs are uniformly dispersed in the Zn powder mixtures at the optimal SBME of 32.82 kJ g−1.

Binarity of Transit Host Stars - Implications on Planetary Parameters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Straight-forward derivation of planetary parameters can only be achieved in transiting planetary systems. However, planetary attributes such as radius and mass strongly depend on stellar host parameters. Discovering a transit host star to be multiple leads to a necessary revision of the derived stellar and planetary parameters.

Stability and Formation of the Resonant System HD 73526 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Based on radial velocity measurements it has been found recently that the two giant planets detected around the star HD 73526 are in 2:1 resonance. However, as our numerical integration shows, the derived orbital data for this system result in chaotic ...
