Re-analyzing the dynamical stability of the HD 47366 planetary system

open access: yes, 2019
Multi-planet systems around evolved stars are of interest to trace the evolution of planetary systems into the post-main-sequence phase. HD 47366, an evolved intermediate-mass star, hosts two giant planets on moderately eccentric orbits.

Nocturnal Intraocular Pressure Monitoring With a Soft Contact Lens Sensor for Glaucoma Management

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A soft contact lens sensor enables continuous, noninvasive monitoring of nocturnal intraocular pressure (IOP) under closed‐eye sleep conditions. By integrating a highly compliant inductive–capacitive circuit onto a commercial lens, the device achieves record sensitivity and stable performance.

Tidal dissipation in stars and fluid planetary layers and its impact on the evolution of star-planet systems

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2015
Tidal dissipation in stars and planets is one of the key physical mechanisms that drive the evolution of planetary systems. It intrinsically depends on the nature of the tidal response of celestial bodies, which is directly linked to their internal ...

Planetary materials: A record of early Solar System events to planetary processes

open access: yes
International audiencePlanetary materials provide fundamental insights into the composition and formation of the Solar System. Meteorites and their components preserve a record of the physicochemical conditions in the protoplanetary disk as well as of ...

Laboratory Studies of Hypervelocity Impacts on Solar System Analogues [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Impact cratering and asteroid collisions are major processes throughout the Solar System. Although previous collision-related impact investigations exist (Flynn et al. 2015, Holsapple et al. 2002 and Burchell et al.

Long-period comet flux in the planetary region: Dynamical evolution from the Oort cloud

open access: yes, 2007
This study analyzes the evolution of 2 × 105 orbits with initial parameters corresponding to the orbits of comets of the Oort cloud under the action of planetary, galactic, and stellar perturbations over 2 × 109 years.

Shaping Carbon Nitrides for Advanced Macrostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This review examines how carbon nitride can be shaped through a range of printing and interfacial assembly methods. By bringing together additive manufacturing and liquid–liquid structuring concepts, carbon nitride is moving beyond its traditional powder‐based photocatalyst form toward digitally designed robust macroscale architectures with high design

Fully 3D‐Printed Wave‐Wound Electromagnetic Motors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This work presents the first fully 3D‐printed wave‐wound electromagnetic motors, which are created using conductive nanoparticle inks, carbon‐filled nylon polymers, and surface mount components. These motors can achieve a stall torque of 7.62N·mmA−1$7.62 \nobreakspace N{\cdot }mm A^{-1}$ and efficiency of 28.2 %, which approaches the performance of ...

No Giant Planets in the Eta Cassiopeiae System: Dynamical Implications of a Wide Binary Companion

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
Given the vast number of stars that exist within binary systems, it remains important to explore the effect of binary star environments on the formation and evolution of exoplanetary systems.
