An Empirical Analysis of Mark-ups in the Argentine Manufacturing Sector [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In this paper, we estimate mark-ups with plant level production data for Argentina from a structural model of cost-minimizing producers, as proposed by De Loecker and Warzynski (2012). We explore systematic differences across industries and plants.

A Natural Sweetener‐inducible Genetic Switch Controls Therapeutic Protein Expression in Mammals

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study develops a natural sweetener, the psicose‐inducible transgene expression (PURE) system based on an Agrobacterium tumefaciens–derived transcriptional repressor PsiR. The PURE system is highly specific to psicose, being insensitive to other sugars and structurally similar molecules.

Chemical Upcycling of Polyphenylene Sulfide at Room Temperature

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Poly(phenylene sulfide) (PPS) is a semi‐crystalline super engineering plastic with exceptional properties. An iron‐photocatalyzed strategy is reported for chemical upcycling of PPS plastics at room temperature using 1,2‐dichloroethane. The method demonstrates remarkable efficiency across diverse PPS resins and post‐consumer composites, even within ...

Investigation of the Growth of Listeria in Plant-Based Beverages

open access: yesFood Microbiology
The objective of the present study was to evaluate whether the content of sugar, protein, fat, or fibre in commercially available and specially formulated plant-based beverages (oat, soya and pea) influences the growth rates of Listeria. Beverages were inoculated with a strain cocktail of Listeria (approximately 1 × 103 CFU/mL), and the data ...
