Comparative analysis of RAD-seq methods for SNP discovery and genetic diversity assessment in oil seed crop safflower

open access: yesScientific Reports
Safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.) is an important oilseed crop with diverse uses and the potential for genetic improvement. This study aimed to optimize genotyping-by-sequencing (GBS) for safflower via in silico and in vitro methods with two ...

Rapid assessment of the main economic value indicators in lupine flour samples using infrared spectroscopy

open access: yesТруды по прикладной ботанике, генетике и селекции
Background. A calibration model has been developed for rapid assessment of economic value indicators (protein, oil, and quinolizidine alkaloid contents) in the seeds of narrowleaf lupine accessions from VIR using near-infrared spectroscopy, with the help

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Comparative analysis of the inheritance of a high development rate in the Rimax and Rico lines of spring bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)

open access: yesТруды по прикладной ботанике, генетике и селекции, 2021
Background. Development of early-ripening spring bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) cultivars is an important task for Russian breeders. Knowledge of the genetics of ultraearly varieties – sources of valuable genes that determine an earlier-maturing type

Wild Plant and Animal Genetic Resources

open access: yes, 2017
Wild resources from ecosystems around the globe have been used for millennia to meet people’s basic needs for food, fuel, medicines, tools and materials, and for spiritual and cultural uses. Today, many species are still used for subsistence and as a basis for trade.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Biochemical characteristics of the main botanical varieties of cultivated oats from the VIR collection

open access: yesТруды по прикладной ботанике, генетике и селекции
Background. The uses of oat, one of the most important cereal crops, are predetermined by the quality of its grain. The objective was to study the chemical composition features in Avena sativa L. var. inermis Koern., A. sativa var.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Bibliography on access to plant genetic resources and intellectual property rights [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Plant genetic resources constitute the biological foundation of humankind. Research systems and agricultural production also depend on them. Plant genetic resources result from natural evolution and human intervention, and are considered patrimony of the
