Animal models of idiopathic membranous nephropathy: Recent advances and future perspectives

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
This review focuses on the evolution of idiopathic membranous nephropathy (IMN) animal models from traditional approaches (Heymann nephritis, C‐BSA, APA) to antigen‐specific models (PLA2R, THSD7A), critically evaluating their advances and limitations in replicating human IMN pathology.

Comparison of Receptor‐Mediated Endocytosis and Its Application to Enhance DNA Transfection by TFAMoplex

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
We developed an assay to distinguish cellular binding from internalization. Compatible with microscopy and high‐throughput screening, the method identifies ligand‐mediated uptake. Applying top candidates to a protein‐based DNA carrier enhanced transfection efficiency, providing a rational strategy to improve non‐viral gene delivery systems.

DVL, a Lectin from Dioclea violacea Seeds, Disturbs the Proteomic Profile of Candida krusei, Leading to Cell Death

open access: yesAntibiotics
Background/Objectives Plant lectins have emerged as potential antifungal molecules, where the carbohydrate recognition domain (CRD) is possibly the main mode of action of these proteins.

Plant Phenolics and Lectins as Vaccine Adjuvants

open access: yesCurrent Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, 2019
Background: The immune system is responsible for providing protection to the body against foreign substances. The immune system divides into two types of immune responses to study its mechanisms of protection: 1) Innate and 2) Adaptive. The innate immune response represents the first protective barrier of the organism that also works as a regulator of

Modulation of Animal Gut Health by Milk Oligosaccharide

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
This review summarizes the composition and structural characteristics of MOs across different mammalian species, and elucidates their roles and mechanisms in maintaining intestinal homeostasis by regulating gut microbiome and enhancing intestinal chemical, physical and immune barriers.

Differential in vitro inhibitory activity against HIV-1 of alpha-(1-3)- and alpha-(1-6)-D-mannose specific plant lectins : Implication for microbicide development

open access: yesJournal of Translational Medicine, 2007
Background Plant lectins such as Galanthus nivalis agglutinin (GNA) and Hippeastrum hybrid agglutinin (HHA) are natural proteins able to link mannose residues, and therefore inhibit HIV-target cell interactions.

Homocitrullinated Peptides Drive Pro‐Inflammatory T Cell Responses in a Humanized Mouse Model of Rheumatoid Arthritis

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective Anti‐homocitrullinated protein/peptide antibodies are specific to rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and predictive of worse prognosis, suggesting a pathogenic role for autoreactivity to homocitrullinated peptides (HomoCitP). However, T cell responses to HomoCitP remain largely unexplored.
