Recent advances in research of plant virus movement mediated by triple gene block

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2012
The aim of this short review was to summarize recent advances in the field of viral cell-to-cell movement mediated by the triple gene block (TGB). The growing body of new research has uncovered links between virus cell-to-cell trafficking and replication,

Dispersal processes underlying the recent pandemic caused by the plant pathogenic fungus Mycosphaerella fijiensis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
How plant pathogenic fungi spread is the first question to consider for understanding the emergence of diseases caused by such organisms. Mycosphaerella fijiensis causing the black leaf streak disease of banana is an example of a recent pandemic in ...

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Sulfonamine-containing aurone derivatives act as inhibitors of intercellular movement of potato virus Y

open access: yesiScience
Summary: Intercellular movement plays an important role in plant virus infection and transmission, which provides an opportunity for antiviral agents that interfere with the intercellular motion.

A herbivore tag-and-trace system reveals contact- and density-dependent repellence of a root toxin [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Foraging behavior of root feeding organisms strongly affects plant-environment-interactions and ecosystem processes. However, the impact of plant chemistry on root herbivore movement in the soil is poorly understood.

Technical guidelines for the safe movement of cacao germplasm. Revised from the FAO/IPGRI Technical Guidelines No. 20 (Third Update, October 2017) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
These guidelines describe technical procedures that minimize the risk of pest introductions with movement of cacao germplasm for research, crop improvement, plant breeding, exploration or conservation. The recommendations made in these guidelines are

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Circadian rhythm of leaf movement in Capsicum annuum observed during centrifugation [PDF]

open access: yes
Plant circadian rhythms of leaf movement in seedlings of the pepper plant (Capsicum annuum L., var. Yolo Wonder) were observed at different g-levels by means of a centrifuge.
