With the aid of triazolinedione (TAD) chemistry, an additive-free, straightforward functionalization and crosslinking strategy for numerous plant oils was developed. In a first step, model studies on the most common natural fatty acids were performed with the aid of monofunctional TAD moieties.

This chapter provides an overview of the major types of fatty acids, including polyunsaturated, monounsaturated, and saturated fatty acids. It reviews the differences in structural and biochemical properties of these fatty acids to provide a foundation for understanding the metabolic effects of each.

Oil Biodegradation by Microbial–Plant Associations
Прикладная биохимия и микробиология, 2015The degradation of petroleum hydrocarbons by plant-microbial associations, as well as the peculiarities of the interaction between microorganisms in consortium and the associated plants, have been studied. It was shown that degrader microorganisms that are part of the consortium Rhodococcus erythropolis S26, Acinetobacter baumannii 1 B, Acinetobacter ...

Production of novel oils in plants
Current Opinion in Biotechnology, 1999We have now isolated the great majority of genes encoding enzymes of storage oil biosynthesis in plants. In the past two years, particular progress has been made with acyltransferases, ketoacyl-acyl carrier protein synthetases and with desaturases and their relatives.

Abstract Oils vary in their toxicity according to the content of low-boiling compounds, unsaturated compounds, aromatics, and acids. The higher the concentration of these constituents, the more toxic the oil. After penetrating into a plant, the oil may travel in the intercellular spaces and possibly also in the vascular system.
