Compensating damage effects of seed-borne Fusarium culmorum and Microdochium nivale in winter wheat by increased seeding rates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Fusarium culmorum and Microdochium nivale are considered important seed-borne diseases of wheat in Denmark. Their damage effects consist in reducing seed germination and plant emergence which leads to reduced plant density, panicle numbers/area and yield.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

A Putative Amino Acid Transporter Is Specifically Expressed in Haustoria of the Rust Fungus Uromyces fabae

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 1997
A cDNA library constructed from haustoria of the rust fungus Uromyces fabae was screened for clones that are differentially expressed in haustoria. One family of cDNAs (in planta-induced gene 2 [PIG2]) was isolated and found to encode a protein with high

A novel role for the TIR domain in association with pathogen-derived elicitors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Plant innate immunity is mediated by Resistance (R) proteins, which bear a striking resemblance to animal molecules of similar function. Tobacco N is a TIR-NB-LRR R gene that confers resistance to Tobacco mosaic virus, specifically the p50 helicase ...

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...

Genome-Informed Real-Time PCR Assay for Detection of ‘Candidatus Phytoplasma Prunorum,’ Which Is Associated with European Stone Fruit Yellows

open access: yesMicroorganisms
‘Candidatus Phytoplasma prunorum’ has been associated with severe disease in Prunus spp., which are commodities of economic importance in the USA. The introduction and establishment of ‘Ca. P.

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Early Induction of the Arabidopsis GSTF8 Promoter by Specific Strains of the Fungal Pathogen Rhizoctonia solani

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 2004
The Arabidopsis glutathione S-transferase GSTF8 promoter directs root-specific responses to stress. In this study, the response of this promoter to plant infection with Rhizoctonia solani was investigated using a luciferase reporter system.
