A millifluidic calorimeter with InfraRed thermography for the measurement of chemical reaction enthalpy and kinetics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The aim of this work is to present an infrared calorimeter for the measurement of the kinetics and the enthalpy of high exothermic chemical reactions. The main idea is to use a millifluidic chip where the channel acts as a chemical reactor.

Stabilizing Electrochemical Interfaces With Multifunctional Cobalt Nitride Layers

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Cobalt nitrides emerged recently as an interesting class of earth‐abundant oxygen evolution catalysts. Herein, plasma‐enhanced atomic layer deposition is used to synthesize multifunctional cobalt nitride layers that simultaneously protect and catalytically activate photoelectrode surfaces.

Synthesis of functional nanocrystallites through reactive thermal plasma processing

open access: yesScience and Technology of Advanced Materials, 2007
A method of synthesizing functional nanostructured powders through reactive thermal plasma processing has been developed. The synthesis of nanosized titanium oxide powders was performed by the oxidation of solid and liquid precursors.

Variable structure model for flow-induced tonal noise control with plasma actuators

open access: yes, 2008
The objective of this work was to study the effect of plasma actuators in attenuating low-speed flow-induced cavitytones from a control point of view by employing techniques from classical control. A modification of the existingphysics-based linear model

Morphology‐Driven Electromechanical Performance of Graphene‐Based Electrofluids for Emerging Soft Electronic Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Here, two types of electronic components are presented: a strain sensor and a stable resistor. Electrofluids properties are tuned to match these behaviors by selecting the type of filler. We show that the morphology of the filler together with its oxygen content are the key parameters to create electrical and mechanical networks with distinct responses.

Design a novel rectangular MPCVD reactor operated at 2.45 GHz for diamond growth: A simulation-based study

open access: yesAIP Advances
The electric field distribution within a microwave plasma chemical vapor deposition (MPCVD) reactor determines the quality of synthetic diamonds. In this study, we aimed to facilitate diamond deposition for various demands by designing a rectangular ...

Photolithographic Patterning of Colloidal Quantum Dots Enabled by Plasma‐Induced Ligand Polymerization

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Plasma‐induced ligand polymerization on colloidal quantum dots (QDs) renders them resistant to organic solvents, enabling conventional photoresist‐based photolithography. This approach achieves microscale patterning with feature sizes down to 3 µm, preserving the optical properties of the QDs and offering a simple and scalable route for QD‐based ...

Dynamic Behaviour of a Continuous Heat Exchanger/Reactor after Flow Failure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The intensified technologies offer new prospects for the development of hazardous chemical syntheses in safer conditions: the idea is to reduce the reaction volume by increasing the thermal performances and preferring the continuous mode to the batch one.

A co-condensation model for in-flight synthesis of metal-carbide nanoparticles in thermal plasma jet [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We present a theoretical analysis of the formation, growth, and transport of two-component nanoparticles in thermal plasma jet. The approach of the aerosol science and the idea of multicomponent co-condensation are employed for the analysis.
