Comparative Experimental Study on the De-Icing Performance of Multiple Actuators
The issue of aircraft icing poses a substantial threat to flight safety. In order to investigate more efficient anti-icing and de-icing technologies, a comparative analysis was conducted on the de-icing characteristics of three types of actuator ...

A direct numerical simulation of dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma actuators for turbulent skin-friction control [PDF]
Turbulent skin-friction control is the subject of much research and the use of transverse (spanwise) oscillating motions offers the means of obtaining a significant reduction in skin-friction.

Transducers convert physical signals into electrical and optical representations, yet each mechanism is bounded by intrinsic trade‐offs across bandwidth, sensitivity, speed, and energy. This review maps transduction mechanisms across physical scale and frequency, showing how heterogeneous integration and multiphysics co‐design transform isolated ...

Electrical Performance Evaluations for a Dielectric Barrier Discharge Plasma Actuator [PDF]
Dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma actuator requires an operating voltage of several kilovolts. However, during the experiment, charge accumulated on the surface of the DBD plasma actuator can reduce the electric field at the location of a ...

Sounding Rocket Roll Control Through DBD Plasma Actuator Boundary Layer Control [PDF]
Dielectric Barrier Discharge (DBD) plasma actuators alter the velocity of the air across control surfaces. The induced flow, directed tangential to the surface, inputs momentum to the boundary layer. This analysis examines the feasibility of a simplified

Here, two types of electronic components are presented: a strain sensor and a stable resistor. Electrofluids properties are tuned to match these behaviors by selecting the type of filler. We show that the morphology of the filler together with its oxygen content are the key parameters to create electrical and mechanical networks with distinct responses.
