Effect of magnetic activity on plasma bubbles over equatorial and low-latitude regions in East Asia [PDF]

open access: yesAnnales Geophysicae, 2009
The dependence of plasma bubble occurrence in the eveningside ionosphere, with magnetic activity during the period years 2001–2004, is studied here based on the TEC observations gathered by ground-based GPS receivers which are located in the ...

Plasma Turbulence in the Local Bubble

open access: yesSpace Science Reviews, 2008
Turbulence in the Local Bubble could play an important role in the thermodynamics of the gas that is there. The best astronomical technique for measuring turbulence in astrophysical plasmas is radio scintillation.

The Morphology of Equatorial Plasma Bubbles – a review [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2015
Plasma bubbles that occur in the equatorial F-region make up one of the most distinguishing phenomena in the ionosphere. Bubbles represent plasma depletions with respect to the background ionosphere, and are the major source of electron density ...

Multibubble Sonoluminescence from a Theoretical Perspective

open access: yesMolecules, 2021
In the present review, complexity in multibubble sonoluminescence (MBSL) is discussed. At relatively low ultrasonic frequency, a cavitation bubble is filled mostly with water vapor at relatively high acoustic amplitude which results in OH-line emission ...

Bubble Formation in ITER-Grade Tungsten after Exposure to Stationary D/He Plasma and ELM-like Thermal Shocks

open access: yesJournal of Nuclear Engineering, 2023
Plasma-facing materials (PFMs) in the ITER divertor will be exposed to severe conditions, including exposure to transient heat loads from edge-localized modes (ELMs) and to plasma particles and neutrons.

Polarization and phase control of electron injection and acceleration in the plasma by a self-steepening laser pulse

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2023
We describe an interplay between two injection mechanism of background electrons into an evolving plasma bubble behind an intense laser pulse: one due to the overall bubble expansion, and another due to its periodic undulation.

Plasma depletions lasting into daytime during the recovery phase of a geomagnetic storm in May 2017: Analysis and simulation of GPS total electron content observations

open access: yesEarth and Planetary Physics, 2021
This paper reports that plasma density depletions appearing at middle latitudes near sunrise survived until afternoon on 29 May 2017 during the recovery phase of a geomagnetic storm.

Vortex bubble formation in pair plasmas [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2013
It is shown that delocalized vortex solitons in relativistic pair plasmas with small temperature asymmetries can be unstable for intermediate intensities of the background electromagnetic field. Instability leads to the generation of ever-expanding cavitating bubbles in which the electromagnetic fields are zero.

Cluster and Double Star multipoint observations of a plasma bubble [PDF]

open access: yesAnnales Geophysicae, 2009
Depleted flux tubes, or plasma bubbles, are one possible explanation of bursty bulk flows, which are transient high speed flows thought to be responsible for a large proportion of flux transport in the magnetotail.

Shrinking equatorial plasma bubbles [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, 2016
AbstractThe formation of equatorial plasma bubbles (EPBs) associated with spread F irregularities are fairly common phenomenon in the postsunset equatorial ionosphere. These bubbles grow as a result of eastward polarization electric field resulting in upward E × B drift over the dip equator.
