Plasma electrolytic titanium oxide applied for pathogenic bacteria inactivation

open access: yesEnvironmental Technology, 2018
Photocatalysis over TiO2 substrates is widely used in effluent treatment specially for organic compounds and for inactivation of pathogenic microorganisms. In the present work, TiO2 coatings were synthesized by plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) and its pathogenic bacteria inhibitory photoactivity was investigated.

From In‐Silico Optimized Microfabrication to Experimental Validation: Engineering a Tridimensional Epi‐Intraneural Interface

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An epi‐intraneural interface is developed through in silico optimization and a novel tridimensional microfabrication pipeline. The device integrates penetrating and epineural contacts on a flexible substrate. Mechanical, electrochemical, and in vivo testing in rat and pig reveal robust implantation, low‐threshold activation, and site‐dependent ...

Influence of electrolyte ageing on the Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation of aluminium

open access: yesSurface and Coatings Technology, 2015
The chemical stability of the electrolyte in Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation (PEO) has been the subject of much systematic investigation. The present study reports on experimental results on the ageing of a usual PEO electrolyte and its effect on the oxidation of the Al2214 aluminium alloy.

Toward Scalable Solutions for Silver‐Based Gas Diffusion Electrode Fabrication for the Electrochemical Conversion of CO2 – A Perspective

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, the preparation techniques for silver‐based gas diffusion electrodes used for the electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide (eCO2R) are systematically reviewed and compared with respect to their scalability. In addition, physics‐based and data‐driven modeling approaches are discussed, and a perspective is given on how modeling can aid ...

Engineering Relative Spatial Structure of Dual Atomic Sites with Asymmetric Coordination for High‐Performance Hydrogen Evolution Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Dual‐atom catalysts featuring varying spatial configurations of metal sites (Pt1Fe1 DACs) are employed to systematically investigate the influence of spatial arrangements on the electronic structure and catalytic activity of active sites. Notably, the 3D asymmetric Pt1Fe1‐TAC dimer, featuring strong interatomic interactions, demonstrates superior ...

Enhanced Nitric Oxide Electroreduction to Ammonia via Modulating Spin‐Polarization of Fe Single‐Atom Catalysts

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A strategic spin‐polarization suppression in Fe single‐atom catalysts is proposed to enhance electrocatalytic reduction of NO to NH3. Employing a top‐down electrospinning strategy, self‐supported FeSAC with Fe‐N3S1 coordination structure and spin‐state transition is engineered from high‐spin to low‐spin.
