Early therapeutic plasma exchange in septic shock: a prospective open-label nonrandomized pilot study focusing on safety, hemodynamics, vascular barrier function, and biologic markers

open access: yesCritical Care, 2018
BackgroundGiven the pathophysiological key role of the host response to an infection rather than the infection per se, an ideal therapeutic strategy would also target this response.

Severe Uncompensated Metabolic Alkalosis due to Plasma Exchange in a Patient with Pulmonary-Renal Syndrome: A Clinician’s Challenge

open access: yesCase Reports in Critical Care, 2015
Metabolic alkalosis secondary to citrate toxicity from plasma exchange is very uncommon in patients with normal renal function. In patients with advanced renal disease this can be a fatal event.

Nonlinear physics of the ionosphere and LOIS/LOFAR

open access: yes, 2007
The ionosphere is the only large-scale plasma laboratory without walls that we have direct access to. From results obtained in systematic, repeatable experiments in this natural laboratory, where we can vary the stimulus and observe its response in a ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.
