Inactivation of Escherichia coli by atmospheric pressure plasma jet in water
The main aim of this work is inactivation of Escherichia coli in water using a laboratory-scale radio-frequency atmospheric pressure Argon plasma jet. This bacterium is widely present in the environment, especially in drinking water, and its pathogenic ...

Spectroscopy of laboratory plasmas [PDF]
AbstractWork under the heading of Laboratory Plasma Spectroscopy may be conveniently separated into three classes depending on the extent to which the interaction of the emitting atoms with their plasma environment is central to the investigation. Zero order, the longest established use of laboratory plasmas in connection with astrophysics, concerns ...

Second order reflection from crystals used in soft X-ray spectroscopy
In this note the ratio of the second to the first order reflection is determined for the KAP and PbSt crystals, for wavelengths corresponding to the Al K-line emission. The source of the radiation was a low-voltage stabilized X-ray tube.

Review of Rydberg Spectral Line Formation in Plasmas
The present review is dedicated to the problem of an array of transitions between highly-excited atomic levels. Hydrogen atoms and hydrogen-like ions in plasmas are considered here. The presented methods focus on calculation of spectral line shapes. Fast

On-Chip Microplasmas for the Detection of Radioactive Cesium Contamination in Seawater
On-chip microplasmas have previously been used in designing a compact and portable device for identifying pollutants in a water sample. By exciting a liquid sample with a high energy microdischarge and recording the spectral wavelengths emitted, the ...

Gallstone Magnesium Distributions from Optical Emission Spectroscopy
This work reports measurements of calcified gallstone elemental compositions using laser-induced optical emission spectroscopy. The experimental results support the importance of the magnesium concentration in gallstone growth.

Spectral Modeling of Hydrogen Radiation Emission in Magnetic Fusion Plasmas
Modeling of the spectral line and continuum radiation emitted by hydrogen isotopes in peripheral regions of magnetic fusion is presented through profiles of the Zeeman-Doppler broadened Hα/Dα line and those of the Stark broadened high-n Balmer ...
