Using the Pairs of Lines Broadened by Collisions with Neutral and Charged Particles for Gas Temperature Determination of Argon Non-Thermal Plasmas at Atmospheric Pressure

open access: yesAtoms, 2017
The spectroscopic method for gas temperature determination in argon non-thermal plasmas sustained at atmospheric pressure proposed recently by Spectrochimica Acta Part B 129 14 (2017)—based on collisional broadening measurements of selected pairs of ...

Laboratory Hydrogen-Beta Emission Spectroscopy for Analysis of Astrophysical White Dwarf Spectra

open access: yesAtoms, 2018
This work communicates a review on Balmer series hydrogen beta line measurements and applications for analysis of white dwarf stars. Laser-induced plasma investigations explore electron density and temperature ranges comparable to white dwarf star ...

Spatially-Resolved Electron Density Measurement in Hydrogen Pellet Ablation Cloud

open access: yesAtoms, 2018
A spectroscopic method for spatial resolution measurement in fuel pellet ablation clouds is being developed in the Large Helical Device (LHD). Spatial resolution is obtained thanks to optics that have a narrow, band-shaped field-of-view.

Plasma Spectroscopy on an Aluminum-Pellet Ablation Cloud in an LHD Plasma with an Echelle Spectrometer

open access: yesAtoms, 2020
We developed an echelle spectrometer for the simultaneous observation of the whole visible range with a high instrumental resolution, for example, 0.055 nm (full width at the half maximum) at 400 nm and 0.10 nm at 750 nm.

Plasma Spectroscopy

open access: yesFusion Science and Technology, 2010
A brief introduction into the spectroscopy of fusion plasmas is presented. Basic principles of the emission of ionic, atomic and molecular radiation is explained and a survey of the effects, which lead to the population of the respective excited levels, is given. Line radiation, continuum radiation, opacity and line broadening mechanisms are addressed.

Quantitative Analysis of Cerium-Gallium Alloys Using a Hand-Held Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy Device

open access: yesAtoms, 2019
A hand-held laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy device was used to acquire spectral emission data from laser-induced plasmas created on the surface of cerium-gallium alloy samples with Ga concentrations ranging from 0−3 weight percent.

A Simple Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy Method for Quantification and Classification of Edible Sea Salts Assisted by Surface-Hydrophilicity-Enhanced Silicon Wafer Substrates

open access: yesSensors, 2023
Salt, one of the most commonly consumed food additives worldwide, is produced in many countries. The chemical composition of edible salts is essential information for quality assessment and origin distinction.

X–ray spectroscopy of astrophysical plasmas

open access: yesPhilosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London. Series A: Mathematical, Physical and Engineering Sciences, 2002
We provide a qualitative review of key X-ray spectral diagnostics of astrophysical plasmas. We begin with a brief discussion of the two major types of equilibria, collisional ionization and photoionization, and then consider the behaviour of hydrogen-like, helium-like, iron L-shell and iron K-shell transitions for these separate cases.

Breakdown Spectroscopy Induced by Nonlinear Interactions of Femtosecond Laser Filaments and Multidimensional Plasma Gratings

open access: yesUltrafast Science, 2023
Breakdown spectroscopy is a valuable tool for determining elements in solids, liquids, and gases. All materials in the breakdown region can be ionized and dissociated into highly excited fragments and emit characteristic fluorescence spectra.

Plasma Plume Oscillations Monitoring during Laser Welding of Stainless Steel by Discrete Wavelet Transform Application

open access: yesSensors, 2010
The plasma optical radiation emitted during CO2 laser welding of stainless steel samples has been detected with a Si-PIN photodiode and analyzed under different process conditions.
