Growth of tin oxide thick films by plasma spray physical vapor deposition
Sensors and Actuators B: Chemical, 2011Abstract Tin oxide thick films were deposited by plasma spray physical vapor deposition at various oxygen flow rates and raw powder feeding rates. The films are fundamentally porous and the deposition rates reach 60 μm/min at highest under the present condition. Local structures are however modified with the deposition condition.

Gaseous material capacity of open plasma jet in plasma spray-physical vapor deposition process
Applied Surface Science, 2018Abstract Plasma spray-physical vapor deposition (PS-PVD) process, emerging as a highly efficient hybrid approach, is based on two powerful technologies of both plasma spray and physical vapor deposition. The maximum production rate is affected by the material feed rate apparently, but it is determined by the material vapor capacity of transporting ...

Feather-Like Structured YSZ Coatings at Fast Rates by Plasma Spray Physical Vapor Deposition
International Thermal Spray Conference, 2009Abstract In this study, a variety of yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) coatings have been obtained by plasma spray physical vapor deposition with fine powders at high power. The coating structures were found to change significantly with powder feed rate, but less with substrate temperature and rotation speed.

Deposition Mechanism of Quasi-Columnar YSZ Coatings During Plasma Spray Physical Vapor Deposition
International Thermal Spray Conference, 2017Abstract As a new processing technology, plasma spray physical vapor deposition (PS-PVD) is capable to deposit coatings out of the vapor phase with high deposition rate. Moreover, the resulting quasi-columnar coatings were unique, hardly deposited by other process.

International Thermal Spray Conference, 2014
Abstract In this study, YSZ coatings are deposited by plasma spray-physical vapor deposition using a shroud to limit expansion of the plasma jet and increase its heating ability. Optical emission spectroscopy shows that the shroud significantly increases the evaporation of YSZ particles in the jet, resulting in coatings with a hybrid ...

Ceramics International, 2021
Abstract Environmental barrier coatings (EBCs) were developed to reduce the susceptibility of SiC-based composites to the rapid volatilization and surface recession that occurs in the presence of water vapor. Extensive research and development has been performed on EBCs, and their corresponding failure mechanisms under different environmental ...

Stage growth of columnar 7YSZ coating prepared by plasma spray-physical vapor deposition
Vacuum, 2017Abstract In this research, a multi-stage deposition experiment was designed to prepare 7YSZ coatings by plasma spray-physical vapor deposition (PS-PVD). The microstructure and relevant properties of the coatings at various stages were studied. The results indicated that the growth process of PS-PVD columnar coatings could be divided into three stages.

Effect of powder composition upon plasma spray-physical vapor deposition of 8YSZ columnar coating
Ceramics International, 2020Abstract Agglomerated 8YSZ nano-powders for thermal barrier coating (TBC) were prepared by spray drying method. The morphology and diameter of 8YSZ powders were adjusted through controlling the solid content of the suspensions. Using prepared agglomerated 8YSZ nano-powders, columnar-structured coatings were obtained on Ni-based superalloy substrates ...

Characteristics of thick columnar YSZ coatings fabricated by plasma spray-physical vapor deposition
Journal of the European Ceramic Society, 2018Abstract Columnar-structure is favourable to the durability of thermal barrier coatings (TBCs), and the efficacy of TBCs increases with the thickness of the TBCs. In this study, thick columnar YSZ coatings (∼1.5 mm) were deposited by multiple PS-PVD processes.

Dense yttria-stabilized zirconia coatings fabricated by plasma spray-physical vapor deposition
Ceramics International, 2017Abstract Plasma spray-physical vapor deposition (PS-PVD) is a novel technique which can offer new opportunities to obtain advanced microstructures. In this study, dense yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) coatings were deposited using PS-PVD with proper parameters. The dependencies of the microstructure of the as-sprayed coatings on axial spray distance
