Semiconductor enhanced plasma synthetic jet actuator
Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 2020Abstract Designing a plasma synthetic jet actuator (PSJA) with high efficiency and low driving voltage is a permanent and unchangeable pursuit for researchers. Based on the surface flashover phenomenon of semiconductors, a novel semiconductor enhanced PSJA (SEPSJA) is put forward.

On Plasma Synthetic Jet Actuators
44th AIAA Aerospace Sciences Meeting and Exhibit, 2006The term plasma actuator refers to an asymmetric arrangement of two electrodes (typically rectangular strips) separated by dielectric material that can be used as active flow control devices. A plasma actuator design consisting of an annular electrode array, the plasma synthetic jet actuator (PSJA), is experimentally investigated in this paper.

Flow control with plasma synthetic jet actuators
Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 2007This paper presents an experimental investigation of the characteristics of a plasma actuator design for flow control consisting of an annular electrode in quiescent and flat plate boundary layer flows. In quiescent flow, the circular plasma region produced on actuation was observed to generate a vertical zero-net mass flux (or synthetic) jet, hence ...

Formation and Scaling of Plasma Synthetic Jet Actuators
45th AIAA Aerospace Sciences Meeting and Exhibit, 2007The plasma synthetic jet actuator is a plasma actuator consisting of an annular electrode array separated by dielectric material, with a larger electrode that is exposed to the atmosphere and a smaller electrode embedded on a surface. Under input of high voltage, high frequency AC or pulsed DC, a region of plasma is formed starting from the toroidal ...

Numerical and Experimental Frequency Response of Plasma Synthetic Jet Actuators
55th AIAA Aerospace Sciences Meeting, 2017Plasma synthetic jet (PSJ), or Sparkjet, actuators seem to be a promising technology to improve the aircraft performances due to their short response time, high jet velocities and absence of moving parts. This paper aims at presenting a combined numerical and experimental investigation, to obtain information about the frequency response of the device ...

Aerodynamic actuation characteristic research of array plasma synthetic jet actuator
2017 8th International Conference on Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (ICMAE), 2017An array PSJA is tested in this paper by using high-speed phase-lock schlieren system. The characteristic of the transient flow field is studied. The experiment shows that a series of high-speed blast waves spreads outward after discharge. These blast waves, attenuated to the local sound speed, form a wavefront, which continues to influence the flow ...
