Experimental Plasma Turbulence
1971Publisher Summary This chapter provides a survey of some of the recent literature on plasma turbulence and closely related phenomena. Turbulence in fluids and plasmas modifies greatly the magnitude of such transport processes as diffusion, electrical conductivity, heat conductivity, and viscosity.

Linear plasma generators are used to study basic plasma phenomena or with plasma as a tool to study plasma surface interactions in harsh environments, the harshest plasma environment by far being the first wall in a fusion reactor. Basic plasma dynamics entail studying plasma waves and instabilities and require the knowledge of many plasma and machine ...

A new paradigm for plasma turbulence has been made; plasma turbulence is regarded as nonlinear system of drift waves and their generated structures, zonal flows, streamers, and large scale modes. New paradigm provides ways to clarify unsolved problems in magnetically confined plasma, for example, confinement improvement, nonlocal transport, isotope ...

Plasma Transport by Turbulence
2016Particle diffusion coefficient due to drift fluctuation is given by (13.12) \(D = (\varDelta x)^2\gamma _k = (\varDelta x)^2/\tau _c =\gamma _k /k^2_x\) in Sect. 13.1. The more accurate radial width \(\varDelta x\) of eigenmode of ion temperature gradient driven drift turbulence depends on the shear.
