Whole Genome Characterization of Klebsiella Strains in European Hedgehogs and Human Nosocomial Settings Identified Shared Sequence Types, Antimicrobial Resistance Genes and Plasmids

open access: yesZoonoses and Public Health, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Klebsiella pneumoniae is a pathogen associated with healthcare‐acquired infections and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) to beta‐lactams and carbapenems. Although wild animals are not typically exposed to antibiotics, they can harbour resistant strains. The European hedgehog (Erinaceus europaeus) is increasingly found in urban areas,

Detection of plasmid-mediated quinolone resistance determinants and qnrS expression in Enterobacteriaceae clinical isolates

open access: yesJournal of Infection in Developing Countries, 2014
Introduction: Rapid dissemination of plasmid-mediated quinolone resistance (PMQR) has been reported in clinical isolates. Methodology: A total of 149 clinical isolates of Enterobacteriaceae were collected in Beijing and screened for PMQR genes ...

One Health Insights From Pteropus medius: Nipah Virus Spillover, Microbiota, and Antimicrobial Resistance

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 4, August 2026.
Environmental and anthropogenic drivers of antibiotic resistance dissemination. The cycle reinforces how anthropogenic inputs, such as sewage, animal dung, hospital effluent, and agricultural runoff bring resistant bacteria and antibiotic residues into soil and water.

Establishment of multiplex PCR for detection of genes related to Quinolone resistance

open access: yesVietnam Journal of Science, Technology and Engineering, 2018
Background/aims: It has been shown that quinolone resistance arises due to mutations in the quinolone resistance-determining regions of the drug targets.

Characterization of Integrons and Quinolone Resistance in Clinical Escherichia coli Isolates in Mansoura City, Egypt

open access: yesInternational Journal of Microbiology, 2021
Escherichia coli is a common pathogen in both humans and animals. Quinolones are used to treat infections caused by Gram-negative bacteria, but resistance genes emerged.

Trends in Enterobacteriaceae Resistance Patterns: A Nine‐Year Retrospective Study From North Lebanon

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in Enterobacteriaceae poses a critical threat to global health, particularly in regions where antibiotic misuse and limited surveillance prevail. Intensive care units (ICUs) act as focal points for resistance emergence and dissemination. This study aimed to evaluate long‐term resistance trends

Occurrence and characterization of quinolone resistant Escherichia coli from Norwegian turkey meat and complete sequence of an IncX1 plasmid encoding qnrS1.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
Plasmid-mediated quinolone resistance (PMQR) is frequent among Escherichia coli from various food products and animals in several countries. The objective of this study was to characterize quinolone resistant E.

Genomic Insights Into Antimicrobial Resistance and Virulence of Enterococcus avium Strains From Bovine Mastitis in Some Selected Dairy Farms of Bangladesh

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 4, July 2026.
The graphical abstract outlines that samples from milk, faeces and soil were tested for Enterococcus avium using culture, PCR and genome sequencing.2. Overall, prevalence of E. avium was 56.3%, and 93.5% of isolates were multidrug‐resistant.3. Genomic analysis revealed six ARGs, 43–45 VFGs and 4–6 bacteriocins.4.

Occurrence of Multidrug‐Resistant Salmonella spp. in Raw Meat Retailed in Wet Markets in Chattogram City, Bangladesh

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 4, July 2026.
Multidrug‐resistant Salmonella was detected in 13.5% of the raw meat samples in Chattogram, with resistance to multiple antibiotics and a high prevalence of the blaTEM gene. These findings highlight significant foodborne AMR risks and underscore the need for urgent One Health interventions to protect public health.
